“Since you guys are waiting for your captain and his three musketeers, why don’t we do some deadlifts and see who can lift what?” Jayce suggested. “Some playful competition is a nice way to start the morning. Besides, we can tell you about our epic pay deals, so you guys have an idea of what to expect. What’d you say?”
The guys actually look hesitant, many of them exchanging looks with one another while a few look my way in hopes I’ll step in.
“Felix, Dimitri, you two deadlift?” I whisper in haste and watch them share a look before they bob their heads. “Excellent,” I hiss and look to Mack. “Go find your Equipment Manager. I’m gonna rile these teams up.”
“You’re evil,” Mack squeals and hugs me. “Make sure someone gets footage of this madness. I want to see all their shocked faces.”
“Shocked faces?” Dimitri asks, but Mack and I just smile maliciously.
“They don’t call me McCurveyThighsForDays for nothing,” I tease.
Deadlifts And Self Worth
~MIKAYKA~
“C’MON, VIPERS! Where’s my boys’ confidence this fine morning?” I call out to the Viper side, grabbing their attention.
Securing my ponytail, I walk over to where Marcus stands next to one of the leg machines.
Stopping in front of him, I turn my back to the Pincers—particularly Jayce—knowing he’ll be checking out my ass in my fitted Gym Shark shorts.
“Your captain is working his magic to finalize contracts, so why don’t we show the Pincers how to quiver when they see worthy competition, yes?”
My Vipers go wild with claps and cheers.
“Nurse Johnson is right!” Marcus supports me one hundred percent. That was kind of the reason why I came to stand in front of him.“Doesn’t hurt to do a friendly deadlift competition, right?”
The boys cheer and agree before Marcus turns around to face Jayce and his hockey crew.
“Let me emphasis ‘friendly.’ We don’t need any fights breaking out when we have a game tonight. Cool?”
“We’re not savage animals like you guys,” Jayce mocks.
“Good.” Sebastian steps up to my right and pats my shoulder. “Nurse Johnson can ref.”
“Nah,” I confidently declare. “I’m joining.”
“Huh?”
Now, I have both teams’ attention.
“Can’t let you jocks think a nurse can’t lift a few weights,” I voice and look for Dimitri. “We gotta lift bodies in emergencies. Never know when your deadlifts are going to save a life. Right, Dimitri?”
“Yup,” he replies as he walks over to me with Felix in tow. “Let’s do six people from each team. I’d invite Mackenzie, but she went off to find Wyatt, so you guys can figure out your six.”
I focus on my team of Vipers, doing a full scan before making my decision.
“It’s gonna be me, Dimitri, Felix, Marcus, Sebastian, and Knox,” I conclude.
“Nurse! What about me? I’m good at deadlifting,” Clayton whines.
“What do you mean you’re good at deadlifting,” Garrett questions. “You could barely lift the bar!”
That has us bursting out in laughter.
“You literally struggled to lift the bar over your head to do a shoulder press,” Liam chips in.
“We should be thankful you can hold your hockey stick at this rate,” Ethan adds.
