I smile at Steel, and he knows exactly what I’m thinking. If they think this is disgusting, they don’t want to know what happened most of the night.

Grabbing his coffee, he takes a big gulp. “Okay, so what’s the plan?”

“You and Demi are coming with us. We have business to sort out. Scar and Pops get the pleasure of Squirt’s company!” Pa Bernie laughs.

“Hey, I’m a delight!”

“Yeah, sure!” Pa Steven laughs.

“Wankers!”

Steel just shakes his head at us all, pulling me off the counter and slapping my arse. “Come on then, the quicker we get sorted, the quicker we get back!” Giving me a panty-wetting kiss, he grabs his jacket, and they head out the door.

Turning to Scar and Pops, I ask, “Wanna have a look around before we go anywhere?”

“Sure!” Pops grins as Scar laughs. “I thought you’d never ask!”

We wander back into the living area. “Fucking hell, Ray, this place is amazing. You really had no idea?”

“Nope, none! I can’t believe he got it so right when technically we don’t really know each other that well!”

“Yeah, that’s not true. You’re like the same person. He’s just better looking!”

“Bitch!”

“Come on, you two, or we’re gonna be late!” Pops throws the keys to a rental at me, some type of minivan. “You drive. You know the area better than me!”

“Why can’t I drive?” Scar asks, genuinely frowning.

“Scar, I want to talk to you on the way and don’t want you distracted.”

“Shit, that doesn’t sound good!” Reaching the minivan, I climb in the front, and they both climb in the back.

By the time we arrive in Ravenswood, Scar’s crying, and they’re both hugging. Pops will keep the firm in the UK, semi-retire out here, but help Scar set up her law firm and work for her part-time. Once they get up and running, it will be a big help as Scar is still considered new and will need to pass the state bar exam, but together, it will set her up.

Pulling into the car park in the centre of Ravenswood, we head over to the estate agents next to the hardware store I’d used for Demi’s place. There are three properties we are going to check out. One is an office downstairs with a flat above that already comes with a tenant. It’s on the end of the row with Beauty’s Party Planning place on it. The other is a big glass double-fronted store, almost twice the size of the last place, with a large apartment above. This is actually next door to Beauty’s place. Hers is a double-fronted place too, and the third is a tiny little office above a bakery.

Heading back to check out the second place again, the downstairs is a large open-plan area with enough room for at least four large desks as well as the other things an office would need, with a kitchen and bathroom and two store rooms out the back. It seems like a no-brainer. Going back upstairs, the apartment leads off the office, so it isn’t really suitable to rent out, although it does have a separate back entrance from a small courtyard.

Pops thinks it's perfect for him to move in as Scar’s going to move into one of the lodges with Ares. They’re gonna start doing it up soon. Upstairs there’s a large open-plan living kitchen, diner, a bathroom, and two bedrooms, all off the main living area. A door out of the kitchen leads down to the enclosed courtyard, which has two parking spaces and enough room for a table and chairs or something like that.

“It’s perfect!” Pops exclaims. “What do you think, Scar?” It looks right out over the big car park that sits in the centre of Ravenswood. There’s a little grass area with some trees to one side of the car park, and there’s a tattooist run by a couple of the guys from the club. It sits between the gym and the estate agents, looking out across the centre, the estate agents, gym and hardware stores, a couple of clothing stores, a thrift store, a coffee shop, a clothing store, a bank, a book shop, a dress shop and Beauty’s place. That’s just around the central area. There are more side streets littered with smaller shops.

Scar nods. “It really is.” She smiles. "Are we really doing this?”

He grabs us both for a hug. “I have a really good feeling about this!” Pops smiles at us both. We head over to the estate agents and sort out the paperwork.

“We just need to wait for the credit checks to come through, the funds, and then the place is yours. It's empty, so as soon as everything is cleared, it’s yours!” the estate agent says, shaking all our hands.

“So today we bought a building!” Scar laughs, skipping out of the estate agents.

“Dinners on me!” I sing to them both.

“Fuck yes!” Scar exclaims, throwing her arms around my shoulders.

Walking over to the car park, we see the pas, Demi, and Steel coming out of the bank. Demi and Steel both look a little pale.

“Hey!” I shout over the car park as their heads shoot up. Steel strides over to me, throwing his arms around me.
