“Even if I would kill you?” He’s totally playing with him. I can hear the playfulness in the way he says the words.

Roach takes a deep, shaky breath. “Totally worth it!” I can hear the grin in his tone, and I smile to myself. He’s such a sweet kid! And the way Steel called me his woman, I don’t want to admit it yet, but fuck, I like the sound of that. My thoughts are broken by a chorus of laughter as I hear what must have been the guys clapping Roach on the back. Time to make my exit. I jog down the clubhouse, grasping my side, knowing I should not be doing this!

I walk inside to speak to Carmen. This seems more like a social drink than a meeting, so I give Carmen my number to arrange a meet and make my apologies. Now this is over, my priority is fetching Scar back.

“Ares, I’ll be back later. I'm heading to grab Scar!” His eyes twinkle as he goes to get up to come with me before realising he really should stay with Carmen, nodding to me as he sits back down as Viking waltzes In.

Carmen’s gaze falls to his, and they could have been the only ones in the room. Fuck, this could end very badly, but not my problem as I walk through the front doors and towards the van.

Before reaching the van, I hear someone calling my name. “Ray!” Turning, Steel’s coming from the back of the clubhouse. “Fancy going for food?” He has on a black T-shirt stretched tight across his muscles, dark jeans tight on his thighs and looser from the knee down, tucked into a pair of biker boots with his waistcoat thingy, which I’d been told is called a cut, over the top, which has his name on one side and “Enforcer” on the other.

“Sorry, I'm just heading over to grab Scar.”

“You really shouldn’t be driving, you'll pull your stitches, and you really should eat. So why don’t I take you for food then we can head to grab Scar? Sound like a plan?”

Shit, he’s gorgeous, and I'm pretty sure he could get me to agree to anything while he’s standing there with his jeans hung low on his hips and his hands stuffed in his pockets.

“Sure!” And with that, he stalks towards me, slides his arm around my waist, and leads me towards a truck at the end of the parking lot. Opening the door for me and helping me in, he removes his cut as he gets in the truck.

Driving down the road, I glance over to look at Steel smirking. “So, your woman, huh?”

He cocks a brow in my direction. “Eavesdropping, eh?” I shrug

“Tab hanging, we call it, but whatever.”

“Tab hanging, haven't heard it called that before!”

I shrug again. “So… what makes you think I’m your woman?”

“It’s inevitable.”

“‘Scuse me? Inevitable?”

“Yup!”

Barking out a single laugh, I glare at him. “Oh… you’re serious?”

“Yup!” He grins, fucking dimples and all.

“Is that all you’re gonna say?”

“Yup!”

The absolute wanker just stares at me, grinning.

A little later, we’re pulling into the diner where Demi works, and I grin, hoping she’s on shift. Stepping out of the truck, I shut the door. I hear someone shouting from behind me and turn around to see Dwayne jogging across the truck stop. I come around the back of the truck to meet him.

“Hey, Ray… You okay? I’ve not seen you for a while.” He throws his arms around me and pulls me into a hug. I’m totally taken back, and not quick enough to lift my arms to stop him, he crushes me to him, so it’s more like I’m groping his pecs. I shove slightly so he gets the hint.

“Sorry, fuck… Sorry. I’ve just… missed you, is all.”

“It’s okay, Dwayne.” I mean… missed me?

Steel steps to my side, sliding his hand around my waist again and I roll my eyes. “Dwayne,” he spits with contempt.

“Steel… I, erm… Didn’t realise you two know each other!”

“We do,” he says.
