“Ry—”
“We’ve gotta be fast, baby,” he whispered, cupping the side of my face in his hand and kissing me slowly. The languid, unhurried drag of his kiss was in direct opposition to his words, but I didn’t care.
I sank into his kiss, loving the way he moved his lips across mine to coax them open and slip his tongue inside. The sheer rightness of his kiss resonated on a bone-deep level that had me forgetting all the problems in our past.
When his other hand moved between us and cupped me between my thighs, I gasped. He dragged his knuckles up and down my denim-covered slit, adding just enough pressure to drive me crazy but not send me over the edge.
My nails dug into his shoulders as I silently begged for more.
“Hang on, baby,” he whispered against my jaw before deftly undoing my pants with his long fingers. He let me go long enough to peel the jeans from my body, my shoes clattering against the floor below.
Sitting on the exam table in a thong with the open and empty locker room at Ryan’s back felt all kinds of wicked. A shiver of excitement rippled across my flesh as he moved my panties to the side and sank a finger inside of me.
I groaned at the intrusion, and that broke off into a desperate whine of need when he added a second finger.
“Shhh,” he reminded me with a chuckle. “There’s probably a guard outside, and the last thing I want is him coming in here.” Lust filled his eyes as he glanced down at where his fingers were slowly fucking me. “The only thing coming in here is you, Mads.”
I nodded, wanting that, too. I’d been aching for this for days, and it didn’t take long to push me over the edge. Ryan’s fingers curled, rubbing some magic spot inside of me while his thumb ground down on the bundle of nerves between my legs and I was gone.
He kissed me quickly, swallowing my cries as I spasmed around his fingers. When I drooped, boneless and spent, he wound one arm around me to keep me upright while lifting his fingers and sucking them into his mouth.
“You taste fucking incredible,” he groaned, his hazy eyes drifting closed to savor my flavor on his tongue.
A long beep signaled the end of the first half beyond the locker room, and I knew our time was almost up. Without a word, Ryan helped me get dressed, knocking my hands aside and zipping up my jeans for me, which worked out well, since I was still trying to remember how to breathe.
I wanted to laugh, but all I could do was moan a little and wrap my arms around him as my legs tried to give out again.
“Maddie.”
I glanced up at him and saw a myriad of emotions in his eyes.
“I know,” I whispered, my heart reading the look. “Me, too.”
Relief shone in his eyes, and he kissed me once more before escorting me through the locker room and into the hallway, where the team was charging in. Most of them ignored me, happy to see Ryan on his feet.
Ash, Court, and Linc paused as they passed me, each smiling and nodding as if giving their blessing on whatever might have just happened. It shouldn’t have mattered, but it did.
I returned to my seat feeling more hope than I’d ever thought possible.
CHAPTER 27
MADDIE
As the massive digital numbers overhead counted down the final seconds of the fourth quarter, I couldn’t help but grin. The energy in the stadium was electrifying, and it was all because of the man on the sidelines who already had his helmet off and was grinning while he talked to his coach.
Ryan had stormed back onto the field after halftime and hadn’t stopped leading an unstoppable offense down the field. The score was a humiliating 47-3. The Knights hadn’t just won; they’d crushed the Vipers. The coach had pulled Ryan and most of the first-string guys off the field a few minutes ago, since the Vipers had zero shot at catching them.
As if he knew I was looking, Ryan turned, and his gaze locked with mine. The sexy smile that spread on his lips made me blush.
“Damn,” Imani breathed, fanning herself. “I think I got pregnant from the way he just looked at you.”
I giggled. Freaking giggled.
“So, what happened in the locker room again?” Bex teased from my other side, playfully elbowing me.
“Absolutely nothing,” I lied, still grinning.
Imani snorted. “Sure. We totally believe you.” She gave a low whistle. “Whatever you did, I hope you’re ready to do it again before every game if this is how he plays after.”
