Page 100 of Mad As Hell

Surprise lit his face for a second before he grinned. “Hell yeah, it was.”

Imani leaned her head against his chest, her golden eyes staring up at him adoringly. “You’ll smash that record, babe.”

He smirked down at her. “Right now the only thing I want to smash is—”

She clapped a hand over his mouth and shot us an apologetic smile. “Sorry. He was raised by wolves.”

He snorted and moved his face from her hand. “I was going to say my bed, baby. I’m tired.” He gave her a knowing look. “What did you think I meant?”

“Aaand we’re leaving,” Imani announced. “See you two at the party tonight?”

“Definitely,” I agreed.

“Maybe,” Bex added.

I turned to her as they left. “Maybe?”

She shrugged. “Look, I’m glad that you and Ryan are back to being… well, you and Ryan. But I’m not sure where I fit in with those guys right now.”

“Screw them,” I told her. “You fit in with me.”

“Who are we screwing?” Linc asked as he came up behind me.

I whirled around to see him standing there with Court and Ash. No sign of Ryan, which disappointed me more than I’d thought it would.

“No one,” Bex answered for me, her tone frosty. “Absolutely no one.”

Court scoffed and pulled his phone out of his pocket, focusing on the screen.

“Okay,” Linc drawled. His gaze drifted over us both. “Ladies. You both look amazing.”

I grinned at him, but Bex gave a soft humph and pulled out her phone. A second later, she was playing a game and ignoring us.

Ash cleared his throat and gave me a look. “We’re going to head back to the house. Do you want to ride with us? Or wait for Ry?”

“I’ll wait.” The need to see him again was almost overwhelming.

“Thought you’d say that,” he replied with an easygoing smile. “Bex? You coming with us?”

Court snorted. “The ice princess probably has better things to do.”

She glared at him for a second before turning to Ash with a sweet smile that set off warning bells in my head.

“That depends,” she began slowly, “can I sleep in your bed again tonight?”

Linc choked on his own saliva and turned away before he could start outright laughing. Court’s face flushed red, his dark eyes fixed on Ash like he was going to murder his friend.

Ash sighed and threw up his hands. “You know what? Sure.”

Court hissed out a breath as he turned and stalked away. He slammed against the door with a loud bang as he went through it.

“You’re playing with fire,” Linc taunted, wagging his finger at Bex.

“Put that away before I break it off,” she ordered him coolly.

Looking like a puppy who’d been spanked, he withdrew his hand and curled it protectively against his chest. “I think I liked it better when you were quiet.”

“I know I liked it better when you guys weren’t assholes,” she shot back.
