“Wow. The womenare still ill?”

“Recovering.”She touched the left turn signal that would take her to her building.“You know me very well.”

“More thananyone else, I suppose. You are tough and do not open yourself up tomany people. Why did you ask?”

“I didsomething stupid.”

“Definestupid.”

Making the turn, shedrove into the lot and slid into park. “I had to take some ofthe duties because the ladies are out.” Leaning her head back, she closed her eyes.

She could alwaysconfide in Kyle. She loved her other brothers of course, but Lionelhad taken on the role of a father a long time ago and Jeffry being acop was scary and overprotective. “I almost had sex with aclient.”

The silence stretchedout so long that she started to sweat.

“Who?”

“It does notmatter.” She bit off a sigh and that simple action brought thememories flooding back. His mouth on her, the long lean body pressedup tight. His erection- “Oh God!” She sighed raggedly.“It just happened.”

“What justhappened?” Kyle demanded.

“We kissed.”She rubbed her throat and the back of her neck. “I filled infor Jane and I was told that the occupant was never usually there.Only he was and he was in bed – roasting with a fever. And Itook care of him.”

“Did he forceyou?”

She huffed out alaugh. “You know me better than that.”

“I thought Idid. What the hell were you thinking?”

She bristled. “NowI am really sorry I told you.”

“You told mebecause you are feeling like crap. Honey, you run the business andgetting involved with a client is not a good idea. Isn’t thatwhat you tell your ladies?”

“I would skinthem alive if they did.” She rubbed her forehead. “Hewants to go out.”

“Who is thisguy?”

“I am notsaying. One, because it will not happen again and two: it will nothappen again. Jane should be better by Saturday and if she is not –well- “She blew out a breath.

“Will you stillhave the contract?”

“I think so. Hewould not dare break it after- I don’t think he is that type.”

“And you knowhim so well after swapping spit?”

“That’sdisgusting.”

“I am justsaying it like it is.” He sighed. “What the hell cameover you?”

“I have no ideaand I did not just pour my heart out so that you can judge me.”She told him coolly. “Chalk it down to utter foolishness orinsanity, but I will not be repeating it. No matter how I feel.”

“And how do youfeel?”

“It does notmatter,” she repeated. “Look, I would appreciate you notsaying anything to anyone and that includes Dahlia.”

“I won’t.Honey, I am sorry I jumped down your throat like that. Could it be- “

She knew him enoughto fill in the blanks. “You can say it, Kyle. I was so busybuilding my company and then taking care of mama, that I did not havetime for a relationship. That’s not the case.”
