He buried his length inside of her, forcing her to take every last inch of him as he held himself deep. Her full lips sucked on his flesh, drawing pleasure with every pull.
She arched back and gasped. “I feel drunk. Can blood do that?”
“It can be intoxicating under the right circumstances.”
“I didn’t expect it to be like this.”
He stroked in and out of her, slowly, savoring every delightful quiver they shared. “What do you mean?”
“It tastes wild and earthy.” She blushed. “And so incredibly… Cain.”
“I have other things you can taste.”
“Oh?” she lifted a bow, her dark eyes full of intrigue.
“Let me show you.”
Withdrawing from her heat, he rose on his knees. “Open your mouth.”
She glanced up at him, a smirk hidden in the corner of her mouth, and did as she was told. He fed his cock past her lips, not stopping until he reached the back of her throat.
“You have no idea how many times I fantasized about having you like this, freely, without haste or worry.” Waves of pleasure touched places he never felt before. It was more than chemistry. It was the comfort of love, the security of trust, and the relief of finding hope again.
When she pulled him closer, she finished him, swallowing everything he offered and leaving him pleasantly satisfied.
“You’re right,” she said, curling into his side. “I like when you take control in bed.”
He pulled her close and kissed her head. “I like when you give me control.” He smiled against her hair. “You please me very much, Destiny.” She slipped out of bed and he sat up. “What are you doing?”
“I feel like I had a B-12 shot. I have all this energy.” She searched the room. “Why don’t you guys have mirrors? Do I look different?” She couldn’t stand still.
“You look the same.”
“What?” She slouched. “I’m supposed to be skinny.”
He sighed. “You’re perfect the way you are. Now quit dissecting yourself, and come back to bed.”
“There has to be some change. I can feel it. My senses are on high alert. I think I can actually feel my hair and fingernails growing.” She examined a hank of hair. “Does this look glossier to you? God, even the air feels crisper.”
“Destiny, come back to bed.”
She stilled and blushed. Her smile turned shy then she rushed to the bed and kissed him, giggling when he flipped her to her back and took back control.
Never before had he felt so light and unrestrained. He had finally found someone with whom he could be himself. A love, unmatched by anything he’d felt before.
Anna might have his eternal loyalty, but Destiny had his future. She had his heart.
Pulling her closer, he held her to his heart, pressing soft kisses into her wild hair. If only she knew everything she was to him. His sanity, his salvation, his hope that he was not lost. Entwined as one, they drifted off to sleep, entranced by the soft beat of each other’s heart.
Several hours later, a loud crash woke him from a dead sleep. A clatter sounded from the floor below, and a door slammed. Eleazar’s voice shouted for Larissa to stay upstairs.
“What’s going on?” Destiny startled, her eyes barely open and her curls strewn across her face.
Cain sprung to his feet, animal instinct taking over as he stared protectively at the half-mortal in his bed. All he could see in that moment was her fragility in the face of some unknown threat. “Stay here and don’t open the door for anyone.”
“What? You’re leaving me—”
“Do as I say, Destiny.”
