Page 67 of Knot That Serious

Eli snickered. “Can’t hang with the omega, big alpha man?”

Jack rolled his eyes, heart thumping with fond emotions. “I don’t know, the way you shouted my name this weekend makes me think otherwise.”

With a groan and a soft glare, she rinsed the suds under the spray before handing him the conditioner.

It was intimate. More intimate than the whole weekend, caring for her like this.

God, he’d never forget the way she arched in his arms or how her expression crumpled in pleasure, the way she sounded taking his knot.

He also couldn’t ignore the way she had seemed to cling to Beckett, reaching for him over and over again, leaving Jack to kiss her shoulders instead of her lips.

He wasn’t jealous. Because that wasn’t fair.

Besides, he was the one taking care of her now, while Beckett prepared real food. Only two of them could fit in this shower, and Beckett had basically shoved Jack off the bed after her when she’d asked for someone to join.

“Let’s just never speak of any of this ever again,” Eli drawled.

“Aw, you mean this wasn’t the best, longest weekend of your life?” Jack asked, combing his fingers lathered with conditioner through her hair. “Finally getting to see what all the fuss is about?”

“What weekend?” she retorted, and yet sighed happily as he continued massaging her scalp.

Jack hummed, ignoring the pinch of disappointment in his chest. He wouldn’t be forgetting a single moment of the past five days.

It’d be a few days before his body forgot, too. His dick was actually raw from keeping Eli sated.

He let her rinse, and soaped up a loofah before carefully dragging it along her shoulders.

“I need to get back to the bakery. Tomorrow, I think I’ll focus on—”

Jack shook his head. “Eli, Eli, listen. You just got done going through a very intense heat—”

“What heat?” she grit out, then turned and pointedly glared at him.

Jack sighed. “You need to be kind to yourself. Rest, recover for a day or two. I will take care of the bakery.”

“You can’t bake.”

“No, but Caroline can. I told you, we were fine to close for a while; I checked the finances. I’ll go in and reopen the online store, and Caroline can take care of the baking. Tomorrow.”

“Well, what am I gonna do all da—”

“You’re gonna rearrange your nest like I know you want to, and smoke some weed and eat some snacks and drink lots of water. Do you wanna hang out with Beckett? He can take another day if you want.”

“No, no. He’s missed so much work already—”

“Eli. Do you want to hang out with Beckett?”

He watched her mull it over, that glare still in place but softening incrementally.

“If you won’t let me go to the bakery, then… fine. Yes. I don’t wanna be alone.”

He couldn’t imagine any omega would want to be alone, yet Eli seemed to take this as a criminal offense.

“You can make him play a video game. He’s terrible at them.”

That perked her up, the thought of many victories to come, and Jack chuckled, ruffling her wet hair.

She smacked his hand away with a cute snarl, and she’d probably end him if he ever admitted he found her cute at all, especially at a time like this.
