Raj quirked a brow at her. Was this Jack?
“Beckett,” she mouthed.
“Ah.” He nodded, and called out, “She’ll be safe with me!”
The only response was something like, she’d better be, followed by something about murder.
Raj grinned wider. Good alphas, those two. And if he said so himself, they definitely sounded jealous.
“Okaaay,” Eli said, closing the door behind her. “Lead the way.”
Raj led her down to the parking garage, opened the car door for her, and grinned at the way she inhaled sharply as she sat down.
She enjoyed his scent, and something tight in his chest loosened at the realization.
At the very least, he had that going for him.
“So, that seemed like it was going well,” he said, and nodded his head in the direction of the apartment.
“Oh, that?” Eli scoffed. “They’re just—that’s. Uh.”
“Working already?” he asked, a victorious grin curling his lips. “Knew it.”
“So where are we going?” she interrupted, changing the subject.
He let the topic go, for now, and glanced over at her. “Do you really want to know?”
Eli twiddled her thumbs as she hummed. “Okay, no. But can you do me a favor?”
“Anything,” he vowed.
She bit her lip. “Text it to Beckett, so they aren’t worried?”
Raj nodded, and pulled out his phone. “Of course I will. No good alpha would let his omega run off with another alpha without questions.”
“Not my alphas,” she reminded him.
He pursed his lips and pulled up an empty text. “Right,” he drawled. “What’s his number?”
Raj sent him the address, and it only took a second for Beckett to respond. The Vine Tower? How did you get access to that?
Raj tried not to smirk proudly. I designed the building.
The text bubble appeared and disappeared twice over, before he pocketed the phone.
“Alrighty, your alphas have been informed of my intentions this evening,” he said.
Eli’s cheeks flushed delightfully. “And what are your intentions this evening, Raj?”
“To charm you silly, and make them green with envy,” he admitted. “Ready to go?”
Eli was quiet at first, and Raj tried to bring her out of the silent bubble. “How was your day?”
“I’d consider it a success. I did everything I wanted to at the bakery, and Jack and I didn’t even argue. It was weird, actually—he got up at three this morning to ask me about you.”
Raj’s brows lifted in surprise. He was jealous. “That’s pretty early for an interrogation. Do you get up that early every morning?”
“Yeah,” she answered. “I like to have a head start on baking stuff by the time the doors open.”
