Ares has two brothers that are still alive from my last tally, SilasandVeles. There’s been no mention of him but he can’t be far behind Silas. As long as either of the men are alive Harmonia is in danger because where Silas is, I will find the queenpin. I don’t know what to make of this revelation, but problems always come in threes and make me wish I had eyes in the back of my head.

Ares will not like my next moves. I scrape a hand over my face. He’s kept Harmonia safe for a while now, but that won’t last much longer. Not with Silas teaming up with the Colombians. This compound is the last place Harmonia should be. I don’t care about the gate and the high perimeter walls. A rocket launcher is all it would take to get through. Or someone with enough chains and a good four-wheel drive. This place is an ambush waiting to happen.

Harmonia will be safe with the Lords and my sister. No one suspects the small Eastern Alliance of Chicago of more than illegal gambling. They’ll never think of looking for her there. Then I can come back and clean up this shitshow.

I’ll convince her.

Disbelief rocks me to the core. A little longer and I can finally wash my hands of the vengeance keeping my soul locked away from enjoying life.

Enjoying life. What do those words even mean anymore? The hell if I know, but now that I have Harmonia I can find out. She’ll fight me on my plan, but there isn’t much she can do about it. Her safety is all that matters. I failed her once, but I will die before I let that happen again.

I turn to head for the stairs the second I send through the message when Ares asks Persi, “Silas, is he at thehaciendawith your step-father right now?”

“I don’t know. He could be.”

“I need you to tell me where to find it.”

I stop mid-stride.

“If he is back, he’s inside a fortress and would be a fool to leave it.”

Persi pushes on. “The night I was stabbed, drugged and put in the bottom of that ship,el Rusotold my step-father he had two weeks before he would return. I know you men are powerful and have a small army, but the keyword here is small. We have to go in for my sister before Silas returns. He bleeds enforcers. I’m not even joking. You would think he is the President with how much protective detail he keeps around him. But you can’t fight three fronts. I don’t know this Society 69 or what you are going up against with your brothers, Ares, but I know that it’s way too much for just this crew and me.”

She is far from being wrong.

Rage turns a few shades of red before a ghostly white settles over his cheeks. His pain level must be pretty high. He’s arguing with his woman about her not being in or around anything that involves guns and danger. I don’t blame him.

“I think we need to get the women out of here. Send them somewhere safe while we handle all this shit.”

That earns me a cutting look from all the women in the room. I’m sure when Harmonia catches wind of the idea she’ll have something to say about it too.

Too bad.

Ares looks like he’s going to agree with me when Persi cuts in.

“There’s nousin this equation,” Rage says dryly.

“Tell me. How do you plan on finding thehacienda?”

My mind falls to the book of maps in the bag at my feet. It was at their cabin when we arrived to pluck them out of the fire. I open the bag and flip through the maps until I find a marked page. Phone in hand I snap a quick picture before dropping the book back inside.

“You,” Rage answers for all of us. “You tell us, we go, rescue your sister and take care of the rest as it rises. One problem at a time.”

The Colombian princess crosses her arms and I physically watch the woman unsheathe her claws. “Fools! I won’t do it. I won’t help get you killed. Nope. I won't help. Not unless I’m right there beside you. But the last time I checked you out, you have more stitches than I do.”

“This isn’t some battle you walk into with a bullet-proof vest and a Glock.” Rage seems to enjoy testing her grit. It would be fun to watch at any other time.

“What do you suggest?” I cut in.

Hazel eyes laser in on me. “We sneak in through the tunnels and come at him from below. The Glock is optional. But you can’t find those tunnels without me. Or the planted IEDs. That means I’m going.”

Tunnels. Quick in, execute my targets, quick exit. I like it.

No one will know I’m there and the queenpin and the remaining Antonov brothers will be dead in a matter of seconds.

I push through the crowd. “I have a better idea.” My mouth moves before I can convince myself to stick with my solo op. I can save time hunting down thehaciendaand get to my targets a helluva lot faster with Persi’s help.

“Wolfe.”
