After we landed in Miami, I turned my phone back on and it immediately chimed with an incoming text.
It’s Hunter, Keller’s coach. Got your number from Colin. Look, I don't know what is going on between you two, but if you’re nearby, she’s at Rosa Sky. She mentioned she called you, or I wouldn’t have even considered sending you this message.
Just landed at the private airport. Twenty minutes away.
When Cruz and I walked into the bar, my eyes landed on Hunter first. He was with a woman at the bar but was watching the dance floor more than he was talking to her. My eyes followed the direction of his and I found Ash and her friend right away.
Had he not texted me to tell me where they were, I would have gone to him first and pulled his eyes from his head. Now I was considering the fact that he may have just been keeping an eye on her for the sake of her safety.
This dude confused the fuck out of me.
He glanced toward the door casually and spotted me, and I saw his entire body relax. He gave me a slight nod toward Ash and turned around to face his date, leaving Ash in my hands.
Cruz saw Erin grinding on Ash and told me he would happily entertain her. We pulled Erin away and I replaced her position with my own. The way Ash leaned into my body when she realized it was me made me grow hard and hot. I loved that her body craved being next to mine.
“Oh shit, Hunter!” Ash had gotten past the haze of us dancing and it clicked that Hunter was somewhere in that bar.
“It's okay,” I tried pulling her back around to face me. “He’s with his date.”
“You saw him?”
“When I walked in. Ash, calm down.”
“Oh my God!” Tears sprang in her eyes and I had to pull her from the dance floor to the wall overlooking the city. “You were in Atlanta.”
It was like everything was starting to sink in and she was sobering up as she remembered what had transpired.
“You came because of Hunter.”
“I came because you scared the shit out of me. I came because the idea of you being drunk in a bar and possibly taken advantage of made me see red.”
“Because Hunter was here. I should have told you when he left our table that we were okay. I should have called you back.”
“Wouldn’t have mattered. I was coming the second your name showed up on my caller ID.”
Her shining green eyes looked up into mine, so many questions swirling in her head. They were probably the same questions Cruz asked on the entire flight.
What is going on here?
Is she more than a rebound?
Why do I care so much?
“Fuck I love your eyes,” I whispered, ignoring the questions, and my answers, like I always did. I took my hand to her cheek and caressed her until my thumb fell to her bottom lip. Her eyes continued to look up into mine, and for a second, it was like we were alone at my place. It was hard to remember that there were hundreds of people only a few feet away.
Before I did anything crazy, like pushing my dick up under Ash’s dress for the whole world to see me fucking her, my phone vibrated with a text.
Now that the girls aren’t alone, I need to get my date home.
I looked around but didn’t see him.
“Who was that?”
“Hunter.”
Her eyes started to get big again and she looked around with me as well. She was on alert and the soft moment we had between us was gone. “No he didn’t…”
“It's okay,” I assured her. “How do you think I found out which roof top you were on? He texted me.”
