“That male with the mohawk. He’s close to shifting.” Tank pointed at the section in question.

“Ziggy, no shifting or you’ll face me,” Hurricane yelled.

The male fighting Ziggy flipped the smaller male over his shoulder. Ziggy landed with a loud thunk. Dust flew around his prone figure. A snarled roar filled the air moments before Ziggy became a big grey wolf. The male who’d been fighting Ziggy lifted his hands, shaking his head while taking a couple steps backward.

Brock moved to intercede, stopping as Honor shifted midair, her smaller wolf hit Ziggy in the side before he could attack. Her teeth clamping onto his throat. A low snarl erupted from her wolf. Brock looked closer at the way she took charge of the larger wolf, unafraid of him or anyone else charging her. Oh, she was definitely an alpha female. She stood over Ziggy, her teeth bared while the larger male quivered in fear. Ziggy shifted back, his neck bared to the female. Honor’s wolf opened her mouth over his neck giving him a nip before she backed off.

“She’s pretty great.” Hurricane said.

“More than that, she’s an alpha.” Brock couldn’t help the pride in his voice. His three children were not only perfect, they were all alphas by their own rights.

“Now we’re fucked, Hurricane. He’s going to be strutting around spouting about his daughter who is the baddest in all the lands, and we’re going to be his two boys who are good too. Just not as good as her,” Tank said, smiling at the female wolf who sprang up next to him.

Brock knelt so he was eye level with Honor’s wolf. “I can’t help it if she’s magnificent.”

Honor shifted back to human, rolling her eyes. “Ziggy is an idiot, but he’s not a complete fool.”

They turned back to the arena, monitoring the individual battles. Brock eyed his son’s female as she took on one of Jaklyn’s mates. He saw both Abe and Link watching the match, the twin males forgetting they were supposed to be fighting their own set of warriors. “How are they going to be able to protect themselves if they’re too busy watching over her?” Brock asked out loud.

“Because they’ll have me, or they’ll be busy doing something else. This is new to all of us. We’ll find a happy balance soon.”

“Yeah, I remember when I was young and met your mama. I was a total scatterbrain. She was my truemate. Most don’t get a second chance at a truemate, but the Goddess blessed me with Lorna a lifetime later.” He tracked his female across the expanse, finding her near the refreshment area.

“What about our maman?” Hurricane spat.

“Tank told me about your conversation last night. I would like to have a chance to speak with the two of you about my time with your mother. I think there is a lot to discuss, but I don’t think us standing up here where everyone can overhear us is the best time.” Brock waved his hand toward several shifters who were below them, taking a break.

Hurricane gave a grunt, which Brock assumed was an agreement.

“When everyone breaks for lunch, why don’t the four of us go back to my place. I will answer any question you have and would love to ask you some things as well.” Brock held his breath, hoping they agreed. What Tank had said to him had his stomach in knots. While he didn’t see anything wrong with males sharing a female if that’s what the Goddess had chosen for them, he had never felt the pull to a female who was meant for another male. Ever. Why their maman told such a story was beyond him. Hell, he would’ve cut off his right arm before he’d harmed one hair on his mate’s head, even though she hadn’t been his truemate.

Time crawled after they all agreed to hold off on accusations or questions until after the lunch break was called. He sent a mental call to Lorna letting her know what was happening, offering her the chance to be there. She sent him a sense of love and reassurance and told him she would stay and feed the shifters. What she didn’t say was she wanted to give him and his children privacy but that was her ultimate goal. He fucking loved her for knowing what he needed, sometimes before he knew.

“Abe and Link will be close, but they’re going to stay back with Nita while we hash this family stuff out. I think they’re a little happy they have an excuse not to be involved.” Tank stared off into the distance.

“Come on, let’s go talk to Hurricane,” Brock said, slapping his hand on Tank’s shoulder.

They moved to where Hurricane was, noticing he was watching Nita and the guys walking away.

“I can’t believe it’s lunch time already. Are we going to have your mates join us?” Hurricane asked, cutting a glance toward the retreating backs of Abe, Link, and Nita.

Tank sighed. “No, they’re going to grab a bite at our house. Of course we’re connected here.” Tank tapped his head. “They are going radio silent and giving me and my family privacy for the time being.”

Hurricane gave a snort.

Honor elbowed her brother in the stomach, making him grunt in pain.

Brock began walking toward his trailer, looking over his shoulder. “Come on, children. We don’t have all day for your shenanigans.

He didn’t need to look back to see the horrified looks on at least two of his kids faces. Tank would be rolling his eyes.

‘I’m totally rolling my eyes at you right now, Alpha.’

‘Oh, I’ll show you rolling your eyes, son. What do you think of the others?’ Brock sensed the others were tuned into the fact they were communicating.

“What are your thoughts on the pack as a whole?” he asked the duo.

“You have a good group here, but there are things that will be coming at them that they may not be equipped to handle. While they are obviously kickass in human and probably shifter form, what we’re chasing isn’t anything like they’ve encountered.”
