Page 30 of Nita's Redemption

“But they were not, you know, giving you fellatio.” Nita giggled, burying her red face into Tank’s neck.

Menka raised her hand, waving it back and forth making some weird noise that had Bakra wanting to punt her out the big window. Finally she spit out words that honestly, none of them appeared to understand.

“Can you repeat that in a language we can all make out?” Bakra asked, crossing her legs. The leather she wore, covering her from hips to feet, was so smooth there wasn’t a whisper of sound. She and her sisterkin had opted for black when they’d blinked down to Earth, wanted to be as incognito as possible, and black didn’t show blood. Theirs, or others.

“What is that word you said, Nita? Like some sort of ice cream, gelato?” Menka asked again.

It was Nita who burst out laughing, opening her mouth, and closing it several times without saying a coherent word. She would look at her males, then burst into a fit of giggles all over again. Bakra assumed she would have to figure the word out on her own, so she flashed away and returned before the hands on the large clock that was mounted on the wall made a trip all the way around. Less than sixty seconds, woop.

“Good grief, female. Just say head, or oral, or eating out. No need to use big words like fellatio with us,” Bakra snarled.

“Oh, she meant the crocodicks weren’t giving you head? But you don’t have a penis.” Menka was the one who scrunched up her nose, but she had a confused look, not a cute puzzled one like Bakra had aimed for.

“Question for you four and I need you to be honest with me, okay?” Bakra waited for the four shifters to nod. “When I make this face—" She scrunched her nose, making the same face as before. “Do I look constipated or like I’m probably confused, and you’re waiting for the right time to say ‘Bless her heart’ to me? I need you to be honest.”

Nita licked her lips, the corners of her mouth twitching as if she were fighting a grin. “First of all, Bakra, I would never accuse you of looking let alone being an idiot. As for appearing confused, I wouldn’t say that either. Second, when you made that face I took it as you being serious. Why do you ask?”

Now Bakra had a real quandary on her hands. Admit she thought Menka looked like a fool or shrug it off like she gave two shits what others thought of her. Fuckinghellonfire, she had shot the shit eater and didn’t have a backup one in front of her.

She opened her mouth, planning to bullshit her way through the biggest lie she could muster up while ensuring her scent was unchanged. “Be right back.”

Chapter Ten

HER EARS PICKED UP on soft footfalls a good hundred feet or so to the east of them. She blinked to where the intruder was, silently glad she had a reason to escape. Keeping to the air, Bakra floated as mist near the dewy grass. Her presence didn’t even make the grass move.

“I do not like you talking to me. I have enough problems as it is to have you snarling about how I treat my mate. You don’t get to dictate what I do or say to him. He made me angry, so I am taking a walk to clear my head while he can sit and stew.” Lorna turned and made her way to the paved lane near the home, heading toward the woods.

Bakra was puzzled by the older female and wondered what her wolf was saying to her that had her fur all ruffled. Did fur ruffle or was that only feathers? She gave a shrug in her mist form, keeping pace with Lorna, needing to make sure she was safe. There was something deadly out there that had her demon senses on high alert. As demons in hell, she and the others had years to hone their alert skills. They were basically alert ninjas.

Lorna stopped in her tracks, forcing Bakra to flow around her calves and ankles. Silly shifter female out here in her pajamas with a robe and nothing else. Of course, inside the trailer park they were pretty safe with the wards set up by the Ravens and, you know, shifters all around. Still it was better to be safe than be all, oops, my bad, I’m dead.

“Alright, Lexa, tell me why were y’all silent for all this time and why did you decide to all of the sudden wake up and scare the crap out of us? And why is Blitzer such a dick?” Lorna snarled at her wolf.

Bakra expected to hear a one sided convo as Lorna was in her human form. She should’ve known to expect the unexpected though, as words filtered out of Lorna even though her lips didn’t move. Freaky as fuck if you ask Bakra, but nobody ever did. Fidiots.

‘We didn’t all of the sudden wake up. We were unlocked, finally. I know it’s hard to understand, Lorna, but I’ve always been there. Otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to shift. We were a gift from the Moon Goddess herself. I don’t think she was aware that through time we were silenced while our humans were still able to shift. We survived because we were allowed freedom as our wolves and communicated with one another in our shifted form, even if we were unable to communicate with the human part of us. I could talk with my mate and the others but only in our shifts. We lived a half-life. With every incarnation, it was another half-life we had to face. Have you any clue how hard it is to be inside another’s conscience, hearing them live, fall in love, have children with our mates and unable to be a part except when we are let out? That is why Blitzen is a dick, as you put it. He’s angry and scared that we’ll be locked away again,’ Lexa whispered.
