Brock laughed, shaking his head. “No, not a pass. The barrier will let anyone who has pledged to our pack or Zeus to come and go without issue. You might feel a little tingle he said, but no adverse effect will befall any of us. Now if a member decides to bring home a person for the night, that won’t be possible without clearing it first. Of course I haven’t heard of anyone doing anything like that, but I want to be transparent.”
Tank sat back, letting out a breath he had held for too long. “Shit, that’s not something you had to bring me here to tell me in private. I thought you were going to tell me something like the sky was falling, and we had to leave here or something equally doomsdayish.”
The sound of his chair scraping against tile, echoing in the quiet room was loud. His dad had a forkful of egg bake on it held in the air by his mouth, but he appeared frozen with eyes dancing with laughter. Tank swore he was going to toss the glass of orange juice in his dad’s face, alpha be damned, if his dad laughed.
With lips twitching, Brock set the fork down. “Well I felt it was important since you and the younger pack members tended to spend a lot of time in the surrounding towns. I wanted to let you know first so you could inform the others before training.”
And there is when the other shoe dropped. “You’re the alpha. You are the one who should break that news to the others. Besides I might fuck up and not get the information out correctly.”
Tank crossed his arms and nodded, figuring he’d made his point.
Brock brought his fork to his mouth, chewed, and swallowed the food. He used the fork to point at Tank. “Ah, but see, I happen to know my son has an excellent memory, and since you are technically my beta, you can and will deliver this news as an alpha order.”
“Lorna, dad is being a dick. I hope you withhold sex for a month. I think blue balls will look good on him,” he growled, turning away from the smirking alpha he called dad.
Lorna came out of the back of the house wearing a pair of leggings and sports tank. She could easily pass for his older sister like his dad could pass for his older brother. Her grin was too knowing as she patted his arm. “But dear, if I did that then we’d have a couple problems. One of which would be I’d suffer, and we don’t want to see me be a cranky bitch. Another would be your dad being a big cranky wolfie with like you said, blue balls. Trust me, he can get extremely growly and not in a good way. It’s best if we all just get along, do what he asks, and punish him in our own ways when he pisses us off.” She gave a sly wink.
“Hey, I haven’t done anything to piss you off lately,” Brock protested.
She shook her head as she made dishes to go. “Well you see, dear, by you alpha ordering our son to do something that you should do, that just irks my very last nerve. You know what happens to me when that nerve is irked.”
Brock groaned and moved to stand behind his mate. “Can we talk about this?”
Tank hid his smile, taking the warm food from Lorna. “Thank you, I’m sure my crew will love this.”
“Give them my love. Next time, bring them with you,” she admonished with a wag of one finger.
“I’ll see you in an hour at the training arena. I’ll announce the news when you get there,” his father muttered.
He kept his laughter to himself, wanting to get back home and feed his female and the twins. Abe and Link could eat as much as him so he was happy Lorna had made two extra casserole dishes for him to take and enough bacon he could make a dozen sandwiches if he chose, which he wouldn’t.
Outside their home, he stopped at the sweet tone of Nita’s laughter followed by Abe and Link. The three of them were in the living room. The sound of a video game was drowned out by their joking, and he wished he was inside.
“Get your ass in here and tell our female we are the best marauders in all the universes,” Abe yelled.
“You keep yelling that loud, and we’ll need to replace the windows with thicker panes, jackass.”
Tank hurried to the door. Nita held it open with a smile. He bent, giving her a kiss on her full lips. Shit, he missed her, and he’d only been gone for an hour or so. Now he understood Lorna’s blue balls warning. He would never be able to resist Nita, nor would he ever get enough of her. If she ever held them at arm’s length, it would surely make his dick ache worse than when the twins had ambushed him and slashed him down both sides when they’d been pups learning to fight. His father was sure they’d scar him, but his Lycan had healed faster than any of them had realized.
“Whatever you brought us smells delicious. I’ll get plates and stuff while you bring it to the counter. Ps. Thank you in advance for the food. These two were sure you’d bring us something, so they said to just get some orange juice and offered to teach me the art of war via this.” Nita pointed toward the huge television.
He followed Nita into the kitchen, leaving the twins to argue over some Borg invader.
