“You both suck like little fucking bitches,” Hurricane growled then he dropped while still holding his head up.

Tank’s father gave a nod, releasing his alpha aura as quickly as he pushed it out. Huge sighs were chorused from those around him. Brock walked to each pack member, running his palm over their heads, squeezed a shoulder, and whispered a soothing word. He stopped at the first male who’d come with Hurricane, his hand hovered over the shifters head a second then he touched him. Tank prepared to jump to his father’s aid if he needed it. After the last male was touched and their huge frames shuddered in relief, Tank was hyper aware only Hurricane was left.

“You cool?” he asked the male next to him, wondering if Hurricane was prepared to be touched by a true alpha like their father, or if he would want to just suck it up.

Hurricane help up his hands. “I’m good.”

Brock nodded once, turning to stare at something off to the side.

“There’s a war coming, boys and girls. A war I’m not so certain any of us are ready for. Sides will be chosen. Lives will be lost. What I can guarantee is that me and my pack will always fight for what’s right and good. You need to decide whose side you’re on.”

“Is this where you tell me your side is the winning one and the other the losing, old man?”

Tank’s wolf pushed forward. The two of them ready to rip Hurricane’s head off.

His dad gave a dark chuckle while holding up his hand. “No, son. I won’t give you any bullshit that you shouldn’t be able to figure out on your own by opening your eyes.”

Nita’s body rippled against his. If he hadn’t been standing so close to her and the twins, he’d have missed the movement. ‘Are you okay, mi sreco?’ he asked through their mating bond.

‘I felt a surge of power searching for... I think me or my family. I don’t know how to explain it. The entity was very powerful and dark. Goddess the only way I can explain the feeling is like an oily darkness stretching out spikey nails with no face, just searching with no regard to life or limb.’

‘Can I take a look at your memory to see if I can piggyback onto the trail?’ Tank wasn’t a master at the sort of shit some of the Ravens had shown them, but he’d watched and learned.

“You two know it’s rude to use your inside voices when you’re in mixed company?”

“Are you aware nobody gives a single fuck about you and your motley crew, Hurrycane.” Link’s tone was scathing. He purposefully used a nickname that wasn’t nice, while he and Abe posted up in front of Nita, hiding her from the others.

“Cute, pup.” Hurricane didn’t rise to Link’s bait. Not that Tank thought he would.

“Ah, thanks, HC. I think you’re cute, but I prefer cute little feisty females like our mate.” Link continued to goad Hurricane.

“That’s enough, Link. Nita, what’s going on with you?”

Nita went still. Tank tried to ease her by running his hands up and down her arms, sending his warmth and love through touch. He leaned down, placing his lips next to her ear. “You’re safe here, sreco.” He purposefully spoke out loud so that she could see how the others reacted.

“I feel or rather felt an insidious wave of evil searching through the wind. Luckily the wards that the Ravens have in place deflected whatever it was, but I want to be as transparent as I can.” She took a deep breath, straightening her spine. “The evil or whatever wasn’t just passing by but searching for a certain being. I believe it was looking for me. I can leave and all of you would probably be fine.”

“Fuck that, Nita. You’re ours, one of us, part of our pack, and our mate. No way would we let you leave without going with you.” Link hadn’t bothered to lower his voice. He turned to face Nita, the words became more of a roar at the end.

Abe spun along with Link, their shoulders touched, making a formidable wall with their bodies. Tank was happy he was part of their bond with Nita. Not that he was scared of the twins, but they definitely made others shake in their shoes or bare feet.

Hurricane breathed out an aggravated sigh. “Listen, we didn’t come here to hear squabbling. You all need to figure your shit out on your own. While you do that, we will worry about protecting your people.”

“Yeah, that is really smooth, son. I can see you’re winning lots of points with that attitude.” Brock tugged Lorna into his arms, eyeing the younger males with his predatory stare.

Tank eased around his mate and the twins, making sure the others focused on him. “We have several trailers that are empty at the south end, near the older section of the trailer park. If you and your guys want to follow me, I’ll show you to them. Before you reject our offer, let me reassure you that they are clean, updated, and furnished. I’m sure you’ve had better accommodations, but there are a lot worse you could find as well.”

Hurricane inhaled deep then gave a jerk of his head. Once he agreed the others fell in step behind their leader, or alpha. Tank was sure it rankled Hurricane, his brother from another mother, to know that Brock was the stronger alpha.
