“I can go a week without sex, Brandi,” Silver said into her phone.

“Yeah, right. When was the last time you did that?”

“How about the last time I had my period.”

“So, this date is a week late because Honor had her period?”

“No, we planned it for this Friday. She had work she wanted to focus on this week and got her period, but it doesn’t matter. I’m not sleeping with her tonight anyway. It’s our first date. I’m going to behave.”

“Yeah, right,” Brandi repeated with a laugh. “Hey, if you get all hot and bothered, you can come over here. Dev and I are having a night in. You can stay in the guest room, if you want.”

“No, right? You’re saying no, aren’t you?”

“I haven’t seen her since Monday morning.”

“Because she stayed over again.”

“Yes, but then she said she wanted to focus on work, and she had a dinner with her sister last night.”

“Did she have a date with that other chick?” Brandi asked as Silver walked up to the door of Honor’s apartment.

“She didn’t say anything about it.”

“But you haven’t talked about it with her yet, have you?”

“No, but we’re not exclusive. She can do whatever she wants.”

“But you want to know.”

“I think we have some things to talk about tonight. That’s what I’ll commit to, okay? Now, I have to go, or I’ll be late picking her up. And I don’t want to be late.”

“Don’t let her change you, Silver.”

Silver stopped walking and pressed the button for the elevator.

“I’m not. Not in a bad way. I kind of like this. There’s this anticipation right now. I liked just sleeping next to her when nothing happened and holding her. It’s a change for me, yes, but not a bad one.”
