He picks me up and I wince at how dizzy I feel once the adrenaline wore off.

"How did you get blood all over your mouth and chin?"

"I…bit his…dick."

"Good," he says in a hard tone and I’m glad I don't have to explain further.

The scene he and Valen walked into doesn't have to be explained.

"Did he…" He trails off, carrying me into a dark hallway that feels like a maze, reminding of a dark haunted house.

"No…you came in time but he ran."

"Don’t worry, baby. I'll get him. You're more important than revenge right now. The doctor is on the way."

I close my eyes and lay my head on his shoulder, relieved that he came for me. He came.

CHAPTER 32

Alaric

I lean back in the driver's seat of my car and let out a deep breath. The doctor said she was fine. The baby has a strong heartbeat and whatever Dorian gave her was not enough to cause any issues with the pregnancy.

I hear the passenger door open and look to see Draven slide into the passenger seat. "She's good, man. Don't worry. Gia and Jess are with her."

I look at my hands, feeling the leather under the palms of my skin from gripping the steering wheel. The feeling of needing to kill someone for hurting her growing with every second that goes by.

"He's at the church with his father and some other members of the Order. Most likely in on all the shit that her piece of shit stepfather has her involved in." I nod.

That's why he came here…to tell me. "What do you want to do?"

I turn my head. He throws a t-shirt and I catch it, not realizing I was still shirtless. All I could think about is the woman I plan to make my wife. The one carrying my baby. The one they almost took from me. Sliding the shirt over my head, I reply, "What would you do, Draven?"

He scoffs. "The same thing that must be going through your mind right now. Put the car in drive. The guys will meet us at the church. I'll send a clean-up crew when we're done. After all this shit, you're going to marry that girl and we'll fuck up whoever has a problem with it."

"D-do you think she really wants to marry me?"

I'm nervous. I put her through so much shit, I wonder how she could ever forgive me for being the biggest asshole who never fought for her.

"I'm not going to lie and say I don't feel a sense of guilt for what she's been through. I didn't know, but I think she's been in love with you since she was in high school. I also think she's been waiting for you to save her. So…fucking save her, Alaric."

"You're right."

After the ten-minute drive, I park my Ferrari in the visitors’ parking lot by the right side of the cemetery. We walk by the side entrance and already see Dorian's father in deep discussion with the fake priest the Order assigned to make sure no one enters the church after hours, except the members of the Order to conduct their meetings.

"We had him make something up so they wouldn’t get inside. The rest of the Consortium are waiting for us. Come on," Draven whispers, pulling to the front of the side entrance.

Once the door slides shut behind us with a soft click, Valen walks up and hands us our robes and masks. "Come on, he can't hold him off any longer."

"You all planned this."

"If you didn't come, I would've killed them myself," Valen says, handing me my knives and a rosary.

I hold up the knife, making sure it's sharp enough. "One way to kill a snake is to start at the head and work your way down, splitting it open and making sure it's dead." My eyes flick to Valen. "You know how I feel about snakes and you damn well know what I'll do for her."

"Took you long enough," Valen says with a smile. "Let's get these sick fucks."

I walk down the aisle and look up at the black cover covering the cross, taking a seat in the middle. The ten members, including Adam, sit in the scattered in the pews facing forward still as a statue. Five members on each side with plague masks on their faces.
