Hannah tried to calm down, but her thoughts and emotions were too chaotic. “Jake. He’s been fucking other women this whole time.”

“Wait. How do you know that?” Cat asked.

“The women told me, but I had a hunch before they said anything, and then I went downstairs and saw him with a woman.”

“He was fucking a woman?”

“No, she was draped all over him while he talked to another man, but I could tell he was relaxed like it happened all the time. I can’t stay.”

Hannah pressed her hand to her mouth when a cry burst out.

“Oh, goddammit. That fucker. Where are you going?” Cat asked.

“I don’t know. Just away. I’ll get in touch with you in a few days.”

Cat grabbed her arm and started pulling her through the door.

“What are you doing?” Hannah asked.

“As much as I hate to see you leave, I’m your friend, so I’m going to help you with whatever you need.”

They raced toward the elevator and pushed the button. They stepped on and hugged as the doors slid closed.

“I’m just going to pack a few things.”

“You don’t have a vehicle.”

Hannah froze. “No. I can walk, though.”

“No. I’ll be right back. You get packed.”

Hannah nodded and headed for the bedroom. She pulled her backpack out of the closet and started shoving everything she brought into it. She wasn’t going to take anything Jake had given her. There was no way she’d ever be able to wear it again, and looking at them would only make her think of him.

She quickly dressed in jeans and a t-shirt before she grabbed the bag.

Cat met her in the hallway. “Here. Take my truck.”

Hannah shook her head. “No. I can’t do that.”

“Listen. I hate the thought of you on the street at this time of night. Take my truck and then call me in a few days to tell me where it’s at. I’ll have Macy take me to get it. Do you have enough money?’

Hannah thought about her checking account. Everything she’d made from the club was in it because she hadn’t had to buy anything for herself. “Yes, I think I have enough. I’ve made it on far less.”

“Tell me if you need more. I mean it, Hannah. I’ll go with you out to the parking lot.”

“You don’t have to.”

“Yes, I do. I want to know you got away okay,” Cat said.

“I don’t want to get you into trouble.”

Cat snorted. “You won’t. Let’s worry about you right now.”

They were at Cat’s truck in a minute. Cat unlocked and opened the door.

“Drive safe. God, I wish I could come with you.”

Hannah squeezed her hand. “No. Your place is with Macy.”
