“Nothing, I’m just tired.”

“I know what tired looks like, and you just look sad. Did something happen? Is Fisher bothering you tonight?”

She shook her head. “No.”

“Are those bitches messing with you?”

“A little, but I can deal with it.”

“Then is it about Jake?”

Hannah sighed and nodded. “Yes. Can we maybe get together tomorrow and talk? I need your opinion.”

“Sure. Call me when you get up, and I’ll come over, or you can come to me.”

Hannah hugged her. “Thank you. I think it would really help.”

She got the orders and walked back to the women. She had no idea if they saw her coming, and she was a foot away and could hear their conversation.

“Becky’s all over him now. He told me he’ddealwith me later,” the woman giggled.

“I haven’t been able to fuck Jake for weeks. I can’t wait until I get my turn.”

Just then, one of the women saw her. They all grinned.

“Hey, you had to know you couldn’t keep a man like Jake. He loves women and would never get stuck to just one,” one of the women said.

Hannah could tell they were enjoying the torment, and she tried hard to blank her expression, but she’d always had a hard time hiding her emotions.

Another woman spoke up. “I can’t believe you thought he’d want you much longer. You’re a chubby, washed-out little nothing. The women here know how to please a man.”

Another one laughed. “Oh, I definitely know how to please Jake. He likes to push his cock deep into my throat.” She smiled up at Hannah. “I bet you have no idea how to give good head.”

Hannah gritted her teeth and set the drinks down. “Enjoy your drinks.” She turned and walked off, but not before the women put in another few jabs.

“Holly, what did Jake say to you when you called him yesterday?” one woman asked out loud, wanting her to hear.

“Just that he’d save some time for me.”

Hannah blocked the rest of it out and rushed away. She leaned against a wall out of sight of most of the room and pressed a hand to her chest. God, she knew it would be painful, but it felt like it was tearing something up in her body, and she couldn’t catch her breath. She took a few minutes to calm down and think.

She just needed to ask him. She wouldn’t believe what the women said until she had proof, or he told her in words to her face.

Hannah looked around and set her tray on the nearest table before moving around the crowd to downstairs.

Her heart felt like it would beat out of her chest at the thought of confronting him, but she didn’t want to wait. She wouldn’t be able to do anything or keep her mind on work until she got answers.

The music was different, and it was darker in the basement than up on the first floor. The beat seemed to heat her blood and make her more anxious. This would be the first time she came down there. Jake had always said he wanted her to get used to the club upstairs before he showed her the lower floor. Now, she understood why he kept putting it off. This was his time to play without her seeing. God, he must have been laughing at her all along. She was one floor above him, and he had the gall to fuck other women when she was just feet away.

How could she have been so wrong about him? She pushed through the crowd, ignoring the different people having raw sex around her. She couldn’t ever see herself doing that in front of people. It’s just another reason she wasn’t right for Jake.

It seemed to take forever to find him, but when the crowd shifted, she saw Jake with a woman draped all over him while he talked with another monitor. He acted relaxed and even smiled a few times.

Hannah pressed on her stomach, where a ball of agony grew. She looked around frantically, trying to find a way to move to the stairs as quickly as possible. She’d taken two steps when she thought she heard her name. She didn’t wait to see or even look back. She had to get away as quickly as possible.

Hannah made it up the stairs and headed for the side door labeled PRIVATE. It would take her to the elevator. She’d get as much of her stuff as possible and be gone. She’d find a place to hunker down for a few days until she made a plan.

“Hannah,” Cat yelled, grabbing her arm before reaching the door. “What’s going on? You look like you’re running for your life.”
