“Yes. I’ve worked with it a few times.”
“Do you think you could set ours up?” Caden asked.
“I can try.”
“I can help,” Cat said. “I know a little bit, but I’d like to learn more.”
“I’d like that,” Hannah said.
Jake squeezed her leg, getting her attention. “I don’t want you overwhelmed. If it gets to be too much, tell me.”
“I will, but I don’t think I’ll have a problem. I’ve always been good with numbers and computers. I’ve taken a few accounting courses.”
“Do you want to get a degree?” Macy asked.
Hannah shook her head. “No.” She’d thought about it but never had enough money, and since she was always working, she had very little time. She was happy with what she knew, and she could always learn more on her own. Maybe she and Cat could learn together. It would make it more fun.
“I’m going to take her up. I can tell she’s still tired, so we’ll nap, and then I’ll be down around five. I’ll drop her off at your place,” he told Macy.
“Sounds good.”
“It was nice to meet you,” Link said.
Hannah smiled. “You, too.”
Jake held his hand out to her. “Let’s go.”
Hannah waved as he led her away.
Up in the condo, Jake took her to the bedroom. He got something out of the closet and brought it to her. “Let’s get this on so you’re comfortable.”
She reached for the shirt.
“I’ll help,” he said.
Even though he’d seen her naked, it still unnerved her. She stiffened when he pulled the dress up and over her head before dropping it on the floor. He then, matter-of-factly, slipped the shirt over her head.
“Do you have to use the bathroom, Sweetheart?”
She shook her head.
“Okay,” he said and lifted the blanket. “Hop on in.”
She did and looked up at him as he pulled the blanket over her. She watched when he went to the window and closed the drapes, making the room dark, but she could still see him as he walked into the bathroom.
She wanted to ask where he would be, but she didn’t want him to think she was needy or insecure. Even though it felt like they’d known each other a while, she had to remind herself it had only been a day.
Chapter Ten
Jake came out of the bathroom in his boxers and dropped into bed. He maneuvered her until her back was against his chest, ignoring her stiffening.
“Are you comfortable?” he asked.
She relaxed. “I … yes.”
“Good.” He pressed his lips to the back of her head. “We’ll nap for a few hours and then get up and eat lunch.”
“Okay.”
