Her eyes widened. “Wait. How do you know that?”

“Because you’ve followed everything I’ve asked you to do. You don’t question me when I give you an order. I know you trust me. Not a hundred percent, but enough to be in a room with me wearing only a thin piece of material to cover you.”

“I…”

“We’ll talk more later. Let’s get your hair dried.”

“Can I have my panties?” she asked.

He shook his head. “No.” He tugged a few times until the towel holding her hair came loose.

She heard him softly gasp when her blonde hair fell down her back to the top of her ass.

He ran his fingers through it. “You have beautiful hair, Sweetheart.”

“Thank you.”

“Can I use a blow-dryer on it?”

She nodded.

He bent, pulled one out of a drawer, and set it on the counter. He combed and dried her hair for the next ten minutes until it lay like a silky curtain on her back.

Hannah had a hard time holding still. She loved the feel of his hands in her hair, the way he cared for her. It was something that had never happened, and she guessed it would be easy to get used to it. It was a scary thought. She couldn’t depend on anyone because they would leave her eventually, and then she’d have a harder time being alone.

Chapter Five

Jake caught every expression on her face. Some he understood, but a few were dark thoughts he wanted answers to. Just not now.

He enjoyed taking care of her more than he thought he would. He’d listened to Nick and Macy talk about their subs but thought they might have exaggerated. Now, he knew they hadn’t been.

“I think it’s dry. You have a choice. Do you want to return to bed or sit in the living room?”

He watched her think about it and then look at him.

“I think I’d like to sit in the living room, please.”

“All right. Let me get you a blanket.”

He pulled a blanket from a hall closet and then held a hand out to her. He was pleased when she immediately took it. He led her to the large pit sofa. “Here’s a pillow if you’d like to lie down.”

“No, thank you.”

He grinned. “Such a polite little girl.” He almost laughed when he saw the redness of a blush overtake her complexion.

“Where is Cat?”

“She will be back. She wanted to find some clothes for you to wear until I can get you set up.”

“Oh, she doesn’t have to do that.”

Jake sat down next to her and lifted her hand. “We want to take care of you, and you’re going to let us.”

“It’s just that it’s not necessary,” Hannah said. “I have enough clothes.”

“You only have a backpack?”

She nodded.
