“Your poor mother.” God, she couldn’t imagine. Hell, she couldn’t imagine having one child, much less six. Them all being male made it worse, she guessed.

The men thought that was hilarious.

Jacob cleared his throat to get their attention. “Listen, brothers. I need to move back to town. I can’t keep her out here without running water or electricity.”

She looked up at him. “You said you’ve lived here long, and you were fine. If it makes you feel better being here, we’ll work it out.”

Jacob pressed a kiss to her forehead. “No, Mate. It’s my job to take care of you, and I’m damn well going to do it right.”

“Do you want to move into Grandpa’s house? It needs updating, but it’s livable. It’s also private and close to us if you need anything,” Ryker said.

She waited to see what he said as he thought about it.

“We can have it cleaned in a few hours,” Eric said.

“I think that’ll be fine. It will take some time to pack up the things I want to take home with me,” Jacob said.

“If you need a ride back to the house, call me. I’ll give you Kaden’s phone,” Eric said.

“Actually, why don’t you plan on meeting us at the little park on Tremont Street off Highway 215 in six hours? It’s close to here, so she doesn’t have to walk a long way.”

She tugged on his shirt. “I feel fine. I can walk if you need me to.”

“You’ve just been beaten, Mate.”

“I don’t want you to think you ended up with a weak woman.”

Jacob smiled down at her. “That would never happen.”

“Is there a chance we can get my car? It has everything I own in it.”

“We can do that. Where is it?”

“The town started with Cedar something. It’s a crappy little town. I was attacked at the gas station on the edge of the town. The guy working there was as creepy as the two men that hurt me. I don’t even know if my car is still there.”

“We’ll find it,” Ryker said.

“I have no idea where the keys are,” she said.

“That doesn’t matter. Eric knows how to hot-wire a car,” Holden said and grinned.

Jacob’s eyebrow raised. “Oh, really? And where and when did you learn that?”

She saw the younger man blush.

“It was a couple of years ago, and I saw it on YouTube. I practiced on our brothers’ trucks.”

Ryker grinned. “He’s damn good at it now.”

“Watch out for the guy there,” she said. “There really was something wrong with him.”

“Babe, these guys are shifters, too,” Jacob said. “We’re a lot stronger and faster than humans are.”

“Okay, good.”

“We’ll meet you at that park. Do you want any of us to come here and help transport things?”

Jacob shook his head. “No. I’m going to leave a lot of stuff here for anyone that needs it.”
