“Me too. What a coincidence.” Knight laughs.

“You know, Knight, obviously. Then there’s Wizz, Kaz, Shredder, Scope, Menace, and Dart. A lot of the others are still at work.”

“That’s alright. I’m sure you’ll pass on what you need to,” Nico answers before taking a seat.

Splinter walks over with Jinx’s hand in his and takes a seat, pulling Jinx into his lap as Rex moves to stand behind Nico.

“The guy who ran them off the road, Benjamin Evans, was a jumper we apprehended last year. He was sentenced to eighteen months in prison and was released early due to overcrowding.”

“So he used his newfound freedom to track down Jinx?” Wizz asks in disgust.

“Don’t know, and since the guy is dead, I can’t ask. Fun fact, though, his cousin is none other than your former prospect Scooter, who has been making daily calls to him for the last few weeks.”

“She’s got people on her ass, and you think it’s safe to leave Mercy with her?” Boomer walks up to the table and shakes his head.

“Fuck you,” Splinter spits.

“Glad you’re okay, Mercy,” Boomer tells her before walking away.

“Who’s the prick?” Rex asks.

“Nobody you need to worry about.”

“You sure? Dude looks familiar,” Rex states, staring in the direction he left.

“I thought so too when I first saw him, but I’m pretty sure I’d remember him if we met. He has the kind of personality that makes me want to rip my ears off so that I don’t have to hear him speak.”

“Enough about Boomer. What’s this about you calling the clubhouse and someone telling you to basically fuck off?” Scope interrupts.

“What?” Nico questions.

Jinx sighs. “Mercy forgot her cell. I called Eightball first, but he didn’t answer.”

I cringe. “Sorry, I had my phone on silent, and today has been brutal. As soon as I saw the messages blowing up my phone, I came back.”

“It’s fine. You weren’t the only one I couldn’t reach. Eventually, I called the clubhouse, and one of the club girls answered.”

“Which one?”

“She didn’t give me a name. I told her to find a brother and put them on the phone, which she did. I don’t know who it was, though. When I told him I’d been run off the road, he laughed and told me to ‘figure it out, that’s what prospects do.’ Then hung up.”

Scope looks at Wizz. “I want to know who that motherfucker is right now.”

“Shredder, go get the club girls and ask them to come here.”

“Appreciate your help, guys, but everything else we’re about to discuss is club business.”

“Jinx is our business, so if you find something out regarding her safety, let me know.”

“Careful, don’t forget who you’re talking to.”

Scope never did like taking orders.

Nico just snorts. “Right, like that, huh? Good to know. So, you won’t expect me to pass anything along that I might find, even if it impacts Mercy.” He kisses Jinx on the temple. “We’ll see you at home.”

She nods and squeezes Rex’s hand when he walks past but stays where she is.

“Your boy got a problem with me?” Scope asks Jinx.
