I refuse to show Reid any weakness.
“Pretty, isn’t she?” Reid taunts.
The guy’s throat ripples as he swallows, but he doesn’t say anything. His eyes also never leave me.
“She’s a whore.” His description of me makes my teeth grind, or they would if they could meet. “A good one, from what I hear. Lets men do anything to her. Isn’t that right, Pet?” I growl at him, which makes him chuckle like a maniac.
He’s enjoying this way too much.
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you, Tommy?”
Silence.
“Don’t be shy, Tommy. She loves it when men want her. Do you want her?”
A low, rattly moan rumbles in his throat before he nods.
The next thing I know, Reid lunges toward him and smacks his baton across the man’s ribs.
My stomach clenches and I slam my eyes closed, unable to watch.
There’s a chilling crack before a blood-curdling scream rips from the man’s throat.
But Reid doesn’t stop there.
Just that one response is enough for him to turn feral, and he batters the already barely-conscious man until he’s hanging limp from his bindings.
Blood runs down his body, dripping from his feet and onto the gray concrete floor beneath.
My heart pounds in every inch of my body as I stare wide-eyed at Reid. His chest heaves with exertion, his arms lie limply at his sides, the baton barely in his grip. But his attention on the man never wavers.
Despite knowing it’s going to happen, a shriek rips from my throat when it slips, crashing to the floor.
He turns to me, his eyes wide as if he’s forgotten he had a spectator.

ALANA
Tears continue to fall, soaking into the fabric that’s wrapped around my face as Reid clenches his fists and moves toward me.
Fear rips down my spine, making my heart pound harder.
I might not know him very well, but his reputation precedes him, and right now, I believe every single story I’ve heard about him.
His eyes are dark, wild. The need to hurt, maim, and kill radiates from him in waves.
He looks… he looks deranged. His need for pain, for violence, has been unleashed, and he’s about to turn it on me.
“My little pet,” he muses darkly, making my stomach knot in anticipation. “You just can’t help yourself, can you?”
My chest heaves as I fight to drag in the air I need through my nose.
Silently, I beg him not to touch me, but I can see from the threat in his dark eyes that it’s not going to be enough.
“One look and you make all the men want you. Even him.” He scoffs, shooting a glance at the unconscious man hanging only a few feet away. “He can barely muster the energy to breathe and yet, he wants you.”
I shake my head, refusing to accept his words. Words I’ve heard before.
