"Oh."
He chuckles at my reply, pressing me harder to his chest.
Happiness takes over me as I smile. What's happening between us means something to him. He wants me in his room. He wants to be with me. I want to jump out of his arms and dance.
I don't think I've ever felt this happy in my life. For the first time, I start believing I can have everything. I'll watch Winston grow up with the best things in life, and I'll be with Kevin.
A small voice in my head tells me there are a million ways things can go wrong, but I ignore it. Tonight all I care about is Kevin and how he makes me feel.
Chapter 8
Kevin
I glance at Diana while she sleeps peacefully next to me. My body immediately reacts to her closeness. All I want is to get between her legs and wake her up with my tongue pressed against her clit.
Winston's cries sound through the baby's monitor, and I turn it off before Diana wakes up. Jumping out of the bed, I grab my shorts off the floor and put them on quickly before walking out of the room to check on Winston.
I kept Diana awake most of the night, and I want her to rest. She must be tired. Taking care of Winston and attending school can't be easy on her, and now my voracious sex drive towards her can't be helping.
I don't know what's happening between us, and I'm afraid to ask. Diana is the only woman I've met that makes me feel like I'm good for something besides making money. All I want is to be around her. I want to know everything about her.
Getting Winston from his crib, I hold him closer to my heart as I get his bottle ready.
My heart expands as he stops crying and smiles at me.
"Just give me a minute, buddy," I whisper, kissing his forehead. "Between you and Diana, I'm losing my heart."
I stop mid-movement as I was about to get Winston's milk ready.
It's true. I'm not a family guy, but Winston makes me want to be a dad. He makes me want a family. And I want that with Diana. I can't explain my feelings for her. It doesn't make sense. I barely know her, but she's more important to me than anyone else I've ever met. I don't want to lose her.
A hand takes the bottle from my hand, and I look to the side, startled.
"I'll help you," Diana says with a smile, pouring the baby formula into the water. "Why didn't you wake me up?"
I smile at her, as happiness takes over me at the sight of her. "You need to rest. I've been keeping you up all night for a couple of days."
She blushes adorably.
"I love taking care of Winston."
She handles the bottle, and I place it on Winston's lips. He sucks on it eagerly as we watch.
"What if I skip work today and we do something together, the three of us?" I suggest, surprising us both.
I don't remember the last time I skipped work just to have fun and relax, but today all I want is to be with the two most important people in my life. I want us to go out like a real family and spend some time together.
Diana's expression lightens. "Sounds great! We could take him to an indoor playground I saw online the other day. It's so close from here that I don't even know why didn't I take him yet."
I nod, smiling at the excitement in her voice. She walks away, returning a couple of minutes later, already dressed. I've never seen a woman getting ready to go out so fast. She's not wearing any makeup that I can see. Her jeans and shirt are simple, and she's not wearing wheels. That's something new for me too.
I realize that I'm not used to any of this because when I ask a woman out she usually knows that means dinner at a fancy restaurant. I've never taken anyone to a playground. My heart shrinks as I realize that Diana is the only woman who ever woke up deep feelings in me, and she's still the only one I've never taken on a real date.
I need to do something about it. I need to take her on a real date, just the two of us.
"Let me get him ready," she says, taking Winston from my arms.
I go to my room and get dressed while my mind rushes as I plan the perfect date. I want her to know what my life can give her. Our life together wouldn't be just her taking care of Winston and having sex with me.
