I scream, trying to get the nannies' attention, but they're all focused on the kid that fell.

The stroller moves faster towards the street, and I run as fas as I can, trying to catch it.

I jump over a bench, almost falling, but find my balance quickly and keep running.

I'm close when the stroller rolls out of the park, and with a last push forward, I grab it and stop it before it gets on the road.

I'm barely conscious of the screams behind me as I check on Winston, making sure he's fine.

To my surprise, he's peacefully asleep.

I let out the breath I was holding, relieved that he is well.

"Get away from him," someone says behind me.

I turn to see Winston's nanny with two other women, all of them looking mad at me.

"I'm not going anywhere."

She looks surprised that I'm not doing as she says.

"We're calling the police," one of the other nannies says.

I sigh. "Go ahead," I face Winston's nanny. "You should probably call your boss too because none of us is leaving until I speak to him."

She glances at the other woman with her before taking her phone and typing something quickly.

"He'll be here soon."

Kevin wasn't happy to be here. The moment he saw me, his expression changed from concerned to rage.

Walking towards me with wide steps, he stops when we're just a few steps away.

"What do you think you are doing?" he asks in an angry tone.

I look him in the eye. "I'm taking care of Winston because the person you decided to hire was chatting with her friends instead of keeping him safe. The stroller rolled down the path to the street. I managed to stop it before it went to the road."

Kevin looks at me in silence for a couple of seconds while my words sink in. His expression changes, and he slowly turns to the nanny.

"Jennifer., is that right?"

She glances at the other nannies, her eyes full of fear.

"I . . . I mean, a kid fell at our feet, and we were helping him. I didn't realize the stroller was moving." I'm almost sorry for her, as her eyes become full of tears. "I'm so sorry."

Kevin doesn't move at first. His eyes focus on Winston. Taking him from the stroller, his eyes travel across his small body as if making sure he's fine.

I know this can't be easy for him. It's clear that all he wants is to make sure Winston is fine. The little I've read about him in the magazines says that he doesn't deal well with mistakes, and Jennifer's mistake is too huge for him to ignore.

I wait patiently while he makes a decision, hating that he's ignoring me. The kiss we shared has been in my mind, and seeing how unaffected he seems next to me hurts more than I want to admit.

"I'm sorry, Jennifer," he says, focusing on her. "I can't have this kind of situation happening with Winston. I hired you to stay with him at all times. If Diana hadn't stopped the stroller . . . I don't even want to think about what could have happened." Kevin glances at me. "Go back to the apartment and take your things. You're fired."

Kevin rests Winston on the stroller again and walks away in silence.

Some of the nannies who just a couple of minutes ago were supporting Jennifer run after him, saying he should hire them.

Stopping in his tracks, Kevin turns to face them, his expression full of rage.
