Page 96 of The Loathing

Neither of us has spoken a word of our kiss the other night in the downpouring rain, yet it’s all I have thought about.

She sighs and my brows raise.

“You okay?” I ask and I swear I am slurring.

“Mmhmm, just thinking.”

“About?”

“How different my life is going to be in the next few weeks.”

I grimace.

“My thoughts are a lot better than yours,” I wink, taking a mouthful of my drink.

“Oh, yeah? Care to divulge?”

“I don’t know…” I rub my hands over my stubble.

“Come on, that’s not fair, let me know what you’re thinking about… get me out of my head.”

She edges forward, so she is practically sitting on top of me, her legs crossed and her eyes wide as she waits to hang on every single word that leaves my mouth and I smirk.

“I was just thinking about the time I kissed you…” I trail off and her cheeks burn, her eyes falling to her lap as she tries to hide her blush.

Reaching forward, I softly grip her chin with my thumb and index finger, lifting her face to look at me.

“Don’t hide from me Twilight.”

“I’m not hiding because of your admission,” her brazenness taking over her once shy demeanour.

“Then why are you hiding?” I coax, hoping she will tell me.

I see her throat bob as she swallows, her eyes fixed on mine and my heart races under my skin.

“The kiss…”

“Was fucking epic,” I scoff, letting my fingers fall from her chin and I instantly miss the tingle that ripples through my skin from touching her.

Her tongue darts out and runs across her bottom lip, her eyes gazing into mine.

“Was it?” she asks, and I can see the confusion that is furrowed upon her brow, uncertainty lacing her voice.

“Ouch,” I chuckle, holding my hand across my heart, “I am wounded.”

She leans forward and swats me before a small giggle slips past her lips.

“I didn’t mean it in a bad way…”

“Then how did you mean it?”

“Well, I mean… I don’t have anything to compare it to…”

It takes me a moment to register what she just said, and I am blaming the fucking alcohol. I blink a few times, replaying what she said over and over.

Well, I mean… I don’t have anything to compare it to…

“Amora…” I whispered, edging closer to her.
