Page 67 of Doctor I Do

I look back down at the neatly racked weights. Picking up a pair, I lift them, but then realize they are too heavy and put them back.

“Do you want a hand?” he asks in an amused tone.

I giggle. “I clearly need it. I’m that obvious, aren't I?”

His sharp eyes drop over my outfit. “Not at all.”

“Can you show me some basic exercises?” I ask, figuring if he’s going to watch me, he may as well help.

He drops his weights to the floor and grabs a small pair of dumbbells.

I raise a brow. “Are you joking? These seem too light.”

“Correct form is better than lifting heavy for ego.”

My words are lost when I follow a bead of sweat that trickles down from his dark hair over his temple onto his perspiring chest. Being this close means I can smell his masculine soap mixed with sweat, and the way he looks is just making my flushed cheeks warmer.

I blink rapidly and try to refocus on what he’s saying instead of what he looks like.

“Okay. What’s the first exercise?”

“You can do the same exercises as me.”

“You mean train together?” I clarify.

He shrugs. “Something like that.”

“That could be dangerous,” I mumble under my breath. It will be hard enough to get through tonight. Now to work out closely with him, this could really test my restraint.

He moves to stand behind me, watching me as I mimic what he did earlier. I stare at myself in the mirror, studying my form. I’m not great, but I’m not exactly bad either. With more of his help, I think I can improve.

After I finish those exercises, I move to the side raises before he shows me two more exercises to finish.

“That’s it for tonight,” he says, packing away the weights.

I help him, putting away my own weights. “That wasn’t so bad.” Even though I’m still catching my breath, it was surprisingly fun, and I feel better.

“Want to have a protein shake with me?”

I scrunch up my nose, totally confused. “Share a shake?”

He chuckles and pokes my ribs. “I mean, we both make our own.”

I fold forward, laughing at the tickle. “Yes. I’ll try one.”

“You’ve never had that either?”

“Nope.” I smile shyly.

“I’m teaching you so many things.”

Things he has no idea about.

Approaching the kitchen, he gestures for me to sit. I shake my head. “Can you teach me?”

His eyes meet mine. “Of course. Come.”

We stand side by side, and we add the ingredients in before using the Bullet to mix it.
