Her lips part and she mutters, “Because having a woman in front of you, directing you, is easy.”

She has no idea how much restraint I have right now not to come inside my pants from the way her ass moves against me.

Taking a deep breath, I speak directly into her ear.

“I would love a woman to direct me and show me what she wants me to do with these hips.” And I don’t have to wonder if she gets my double meaning, because her eyes roll. I bet underneath her sweetness is a bold and sassy woman, yearning to be set free. She seems very close-lipped with me, and I can’t help but be excited by that.

Maybe I’m different for her?

“Always a hook-up with you,” she says in a clipped tone like the word “hook-up” is disgusting to her.

I’m about to argue, when Blake cuts in, yelling, “Look at you two, the picture-perfect couple.”

As soon as those words leave his lips, Tahlia’s warm body and presence slip away, and my body mourns the loss with a shudder. I don’t turn to Blake or respond, as I’m too busy stopping myself from begging her to come back and dance with me. The way her arms are crossing under her chest, it pushes her breasts up and out of her dress, and my brain isn’t working properly, too busy lost in dirty sex positions with my dick and her tits.

“No way,” she yells back, but it lacks conviction.

And I can’t be irritated, even though I know we shouldn’t hook up for the sake of her heart. I’m sure I’d break it, and then Mike would lose his shit at me over it, because Alice would be upset, and no one upsets his wife.

“Imagine the hot babies,” Blake says.

Yeah, no, that's drawing a line, even for me. “Sorry, bud. Not happening.”

Maddison comes over with a fresh round of drinks. I look over at Tahlia, and she’s wearing a hurt expression. Surely, not over the kid comment, or because I won’t kiss her? No way, it must be something else. But before I can ask if she’s okay, she turns away, telling Maddison she isn’t drinking anymore tonight. When she faces me again, the hurt has gone, and her smile is back.

We dance for a little longer, and this time, I hate it. I’m not touching her at all, not even our fingers lacing together. I keep my gaze locked on her hips, watching them sway from side to side and moving to the beat of the music. We’re all pushed closer together, and with each song, the crowd gets drunker. I take the opportunity to speak to her while everyone’s distracted.

“Are my dance moves getting any better?”

Her eyes glow under the strobe lights and the little tilt of her head makes me grin.

“You’re not bad. I’ll give you that, Doctor.”

My brow rises and my lips quirk. “Doctor?” I ask with mischief.

“Well, you are one, right?”

“Oh, the sass on you, T,” Maddison says.

I flick my gaze to Maddison, wishing she didn’t hear our chat, because Tahlia curls back away from me. All the humor gone. She’s back to the quiet Tahlia I’ve seen when I’ve been around her with Mike and Alice. But at the hospital and tonight, she’s flirted with me, and I have to admit, I like her relaxed and flirty.

“What? He’s a doctor, that’s all,” she replies to Maddison’s and Blake’s shocked expressions. They don't seem so sure about it, and I’m not saying a word.

“I am a pretty good one too,” I say, giving Tahlia a lopsided grin.

She rolls her eyes and smirks back. “I would hope so.”

Maddison and Blake finish their drinks, and as soon as Tahlia notices, she says, “You guys ready to go? I’ve gotta work tomorrow.”

And I wonder if she’s speaking the truth, or if she’s trying to run away from me.

“Yeah, good idea. I’m done,” Blake confesses, running a hand through his sweaty hair.

“I guess I’ll see you next time,” I say, waving at Blake and Maddison.

I turn to Tahlia, and I can’t help the way my hand reaches out to touch her waist. “Nice seeing you again.”

Her gaze drops before looking up. I take in her flushed nose where her makeup has worn off. It’s adorable. “Same. Bye, Alex.”
