Page 90 of Mine to Love

I WAKE TO THE TASTE of sand and the sound of beating drums. The sand isn’t only in my mouth, it’s all around me, too. Crushing me into the mattress, weighing me down so I can’t move. I have to pee but my body, bladder, and mind aren’t in sync at the moment.

Carefully, as if my limbs are made of glass, I roll to my back and open one eye, then the other. Has my bedroom always been this white? Hell, I need sunglasses to see.

The crushing force across my body is Logan’s heavy arm and leg. I attempt to nudge it aside but between his dead weight and my lack of strength, he doesn’t move an inch. My bladder isn’t going to hold out much longer.

It’s either muster up the strength or wet the bed. I push Logan off me and slide out of bed, walking to the bathroom like a zombie. The condo tilts on its side and I bump into the walls on my way there. I’m not brave enough to look in the mirror yet. I take care of business then brush my teeth. Twice.

There’s no way I can go back to sleep with the marching band taking up space in my head. Continuing my zombie walk, I make my way to the kitchen and down two Tylenol. Figuring Logan will need some when he wakes, I fill the glass with water and bring the bottle back to my room.

He’s still sprawled out on his back, and I can’t help the smile that curves my lips. His crazy bed head and the scruff on his face make him appear so sweet and endearing. If memory serves me right, nothing about last night was endearing.

I’ve never seen Logan drunk before. Who knew that a few beers would make his stamina last a long, long time. No wonder my body aches. We started on the counter where I orgasmed in seconds. Then on the way to the bedroom he claimed me against the wall, giving me another one.

Logan bent me over the bed, flipped me around and made love to me while kissing me so deep I could barely breathe, then flipped me to all fours while he made love to me from behind. I was exhausted and spent but he hadn’t relented, finally rolling us to our sides and finishing while spooning.

I’m pretty sure I have love bites up and down my neck as well. Needing another few hours of sleep before facing the day and Logan, because everything I said to him is starting to become clearer, I close the blinds and crawl into bed. Logan moans and rolls to his side, hugging me into his front. It’s his favorite way to sleep. He tells me this every night he’s with me.

I fall instantly asleep in his arms. Exactly where I want to be.

“REMIND ME AGAIN WHY I agreed to hang out with my brothers instead of you last night?” Logan murmurs in my ear sometime later.

My head and room spins are gone, but my body is still sore. In the best of ways. “Miss me, did ya?”

“There’s a reason I don’t get drunk.”

“Why’s that?” I snuggle deeper into his arms.

“Because I lose control. Did I hurt you last night?”

“You’ll hear no complaints from me. I mean, I can’t move today so you’ll have to wait on me hand and foot. Other than that, I’m good.”

“I can do that.” He kisses my bare shoulder. “I’m sorry about telling my brothers before talking to you about it.”

“And sister.”

“I didn’t need to tell her. She already knew.”

“She did?” I turn and face him. “How did she find out?”

Logan smiles and kisses the tip of my nose. “Apparently you couldn’t keep your eyes off me the last time we were at the house.”

“Me? You were the one ogling me.”

“Can you blame me?” He winks at me and gives me a peck on the lips.

“Emerson’s gonna ream me out today. I feel bad keeping it from her but...” I don’t have liquid courage inside me anymore. Not that I ever needed it before. I’m known for being outspoken, however I’ve never been in a situation like this before.

Not a situation. A relationship.

“Now that we’ve crossed all the lines it may be easier.”

“All the lines?” I smirk. “Do tell.” I snuggle in closer and trace my finger along his collarbone.

His cellphone rings from somewhere in the room. “I assume our phones blew up while we were sleeping.”

“And while doing other things.”
