Page 36 of Mine to Love

The man leads me to the front desk. “Cameron will check you in and Hugh will bring your luggage up to your room as soon as you are ready.” He nods toward a bellhop who already has my suitcase at his feet.

“Thank you.”

“Enjoy your stay, Miss Elliot.”

“I will—” I pause and am about to ask him how he knows my name, but he turns on his heel and greets a couple coming around the corner.

“Miss Elliot?” Cameron from behind the desk calls. “Your room is ready. How many key cards would you like?”

“Um.” I blink away my surprise. “Just one, please.”

“Here you go. Enjoy your stay at the Four Seasons. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call down to the front desk.”

“Okay. Sure. Thank you.” I slide the key card in the pocket of my leggings and follow Hugh to the elevator.

“I can manage wheeling my suitcase to my room, Hugh. If there are other people who need your assistance—”

“It’s not a problem, Miss Elliot.” He pushes the button outside the elevator and an instant later, the doors open.

We travel in silence to the sixteenth floor. When he leads me to my room, I turn to him before unlocking her door. “Can I ask you a question?”

“Of course, Miss Elliot.”

“How did you know my name?”

“Mr. Forrester introduced you.”

“Mr. Forrester?” He must have been the man in the suit. “How did he know me?”

“Max is the VIP driver for Pierce Financials, and you’re staying in one of his rooms.”

“His rooms?” If this is where Logan brings his one-night stands, I’m hightailing it out of here. Although the thought of making love to him on a luxury bed like I’m sure to find on the other side of the door has an appeal to it. Kind of sexy, yet I’m also repulsed at the thought.

“The company has this room blocked off for its guests.”

“Oh.” A company guest is much better than being clumped as one of Logan’s guests. Maybe. I open the door and hold it for Hugh.

He wheels my suitcase into the room. “Is there anything you need for the night, Miss Elliot?”

“No, thank you, Hugh.” I open my purse to give him a tip, but he holds up his hand to stop me.

“Much appreciated, but Pierce Financials takes care of the tips for their guests. Have a nice evening, Miss Elliot.”

When the door closes behind him, I turn to take in the room. Rather, the suite. A comfortable looking gray sofa and two gray chairs take up the space in front of the sliding doors that lead to a balcony. I cross the room and look out at Lady Bird Lake, the city skyscape glowing behind it. In less than an hour, the sun will set. I can picture the lights from the city reflecting over the lake.

First, I need to unpack and iron my clothes for tomorrow, and then find dinner. I wheel my suitcase down the short hall and into the bedroom. The bed is big and decorated with many white pillows.

I sit down on the edge and sink into its softness. Laying back into the pillows, I sigh as the feathery softness surrounds my head.

“Oh, this is heaven.” I could lie here all day and am afraid I’d miss my eight o’clock meeting with Doug. As if on cue, my cell phone vibrates.

“Hello?”

“Miss Elliot, I hope your flight was uneventful. Do you have everything you need at the hotel?”

“Hi, Doug. Yes. The room is gorgeous. Thank you for making these arrangements for me.”

“Of course. Can I order you dinner? You must be hungry after your travels. Room service is excellent, I hear.”
