“I was hoping to have a slippery naked thing of my own to keep me busy tonight.”

“Seriously.” Skylar laughed as she picked up Gabriella.

Nick opened up the towel that she’d set on the counter and wrapped his squirmy daughter in it. “I can get her changed.”

“No. You need to eat, as does she. We had a busy night of playtime. I’m sure she’ll go down pretty easily.”

“It’s only fair that I have a busy night of playtime as well.”

Skylar snorted and went upstairs leaving him alone in the kitchen with his horny thoughts. Their pretend family had been perfect—almost too perfect—and he didn’t want it to end. In two days she’d be leaving, and he’d be... alone.

He’d had an idea percolating for days but wasn’t sure how she would take it. Tonight, he’d figured out how to get coverage at work. Now to work on Skylar. He made his salad and ate standing up at the counter. Once his dishes were clean, he turned off the lights and headed upstairs.

The lights were dim in the bedroom, the only noises coming from Gabriella’s soft moans. She was a noisy eater, as her mother was a noisy lover. Moans, murmurs, lots of thanking God and Nick... it was all good.

He gave Skylar’s foot a squeeze as he walked past her and into the bathroom. By the time he was done with his shower, Skylar was alone in the bed. Nick didn’t bother with a towel and padded across the room naked, crawling across the bed until he hovered over her on all fours.

“My turn.”

“You two make me feel like an all-night diner.”

Nick lowered his head and took her mouth with his, sliding his tongue past the seam of her lips, and not touching her anywhere else. “I like the sound of that. I can feast on you. All. Night.”

Skylar scooted down into the mattress, and he followed, resting most of his weight on his elbows. “You’re insatiable.”

“Only with you, darlin’. Only with you.”

Sky snuggled into Nick’s body, loving the feel of his arms around her. “I don’t think I’ll be able to walk tomorrow.”

“Perfect. That means I can keep you in my lair all day and all night.”

“Lair?”

“Isn’t that what they call it in your romance books?”

“I don’t read romance. I read mysteries. True crime. Horror.”

“A.R. Beckett kind of stuff?”

She’d been reading A.R. Beckett since before she knew he was Drew Beckett. Brooke had never even read his books before falling for him. Sky had done all she could not to fawn all over him when she first met him, and she told Nick as much.

“Should I be jealous?”

“If Brooke hadn’t married him? Hell yeah.” Nick’s arm dropped from her hip. She pinched his side. “Don’t be jealous.”

“I just gave you two heart-stopping orgasms, made you forget your name, and you tell me you’d rather be with another guy.”

“I didn’t say I’d rather be with Drew.”

“Same thing.” She heard the pout in his voice.

Nick didn’t seem like the jealous lover type, but it wasn’t like she’d known him for too long. Propping herself up on her elbow, she looked down at him. A curtain of red hair fell across her face and onto his chest.

She pushed it back over her shoulder. “I can honestly tell you I’ve never had any sexual fantasies about A.R. Beckett or Drew Beckett. Had I dreamed of meeting my favorite psychological thriller author? Hell yeah. Have I ever dreamed about having sex with him? Ew. No. I think of him as a brother now so please erase those thoughts from your mind.”

“Does that mean you’ve had sexual fantasies about me?” He pushed another lock of her hair back, and rested his hands on her back, letting them linger toward her breasts.
