“You know, I should be carrying the backpack and baby. I’m the one who needs to burn off calories, not you.” Skylar uncapped her water bottle and chugged.
“You’re beautiful just the way you are, but if it’s calories you want to burn, I have a few other ideas on how to get the job done.” He took the bottle from her and finished the rest of the water. They had three more in the backpack, but he liked the idea of his lips touching where hers had been.
“Do you think of anything besides sex?” Again, the teasing smile.
While he joked about it constantly, he’d wait for Skylar to give the go ahead. In the meantime, he made sure she was more than one hundred percent aware of how much he wanted her.
“It’s your fault.”
“Please.” She dug in the backpack and took out a banana. Unaware of how sexual she was, she peeled it and took an aggressive bite out of the tip.
Nick took a sharp inhale. Skylar looked up at him from under her lashes, and a sly smirk took over her gorgeous face, now littered with sun kissed freckles.
She licked her lips before bringing her mouth down on the banana again. This time she didn’t bite. She licked. One side, then the other.
He moaned and rubbed his hand across the back of his neck. “You’re giving me a headache.”
Instantly, her teasing stopped, and she stepped into his space. She placed her banana-free hand on his cheek. “You should sit down. Have some more water. I packed some Tylenol just in case.”
She reached for the backpack and Nick gripped her bicep pulling her back. “Not that head,” he growled, taking her mouth with his. He wasn’t slow or careful with the kiss. When Skylar stumbled backwards, he held on to her hips and tugged her closer.
She tasted sweet—like a banana—and full of mischief. Her tongue played with his and her hands reached behind, grabbing his butt cheeks.
A loud shriek had them jumping apart. Poor Gabriella had been squished between them, victim of her parent’s lust.
“Now you did me in. I’ll never be able to look at a banana again without getting hard.”
With a satisfied smile, she sauntered up to him, so close he could count every freckle on her nose. “Wait’ll you see what I can do with a cherry stem.” She unbuckled Gabriella and carried her over to a shady spot.
This was fun, the flirting, the teasing. The kissing. Definitely the kissing. He still needed a response from Skylar regarding his parents. Taking a seat next to her on the boulder, he played with Gabriella’s toes while Skylar delicately bounced her on her knee.
“Do you two have plans this weekend?”
“Other than changing diapers and being a human milking machine? No. I’ll have to check Gabby’s social calendar though.”
“How about spending the weekend with me? It’s my mom’s birthday.” He took Gabriella from her and laid her down on the tops of his thighs and blew raspberries on her belly. Baby giggles filled the air while he waited for Skylar to shoot him down.
“Shouldn’t you be spending the day with your mom?”
“It would be a two-for-one deal.” He blew another raspberry and tilted his head so he could see Skylar out of the corner of his eye. “See my parents and celebrate with my mom while introducing you to the family.”
“I don’t think I should intrude.”
Nick lifted his head and frowned. “You’d never be an intrusion. We’d spend the entire weekend at my family’s place in Acadia Falls. It will be relaxing. You’ll get waited on and spoiled.”
“Shouldn’t your mother be waited on and spoiled?”
“She’ll be too busy loving on her granddaughter to want anything else.”
“I don’t know...”
“We’ll pack our bags for the weekend, but if you’re not comfortable, we’ll leave Saturday afternoon.”
“That wouldn’t be very nice to your mother who’s expecting to spend time with you.”
“You’re an incredibly selfless woman.” He skimmed his knuckles down her jawline.
“I’m having some incredibly selfish thoughts running through my head right now.” She patted his shoulder and stood, picking up the backpack and strapping it on. “We should head back. Gabby will be hungry soon.”
