She opened her eyes and chewed on the corner of her lower lip. “You think a postpartum woman who cries at the drop of a dime is hot?”

“I think you are hot.” Nick curled his fingers around her neck and drew her mouth down to meet his.

Her lips were exactly as he’d remembered. Soft and warm. Sweet and salty from her tears. He slid his tongue along the seam of her lips waiting for her to open to him. He felt the hesitation in her stiff body, so he started to pull away.

When she leaned into him taking the kiss deeper, her body finally relaxed into his, and then he couldn’t tell who the moans were coming from. He dove his hands into her hair and made love to her mouth.

This. This was what Sky had been craving. Not being kissed and devoured by any man, but by Nicolas Pierce. She’d been craving his touches since their fast and furious time in the supply closet. It wasn’t just the thrill of secret sex, it was the way he touched her, a virtual stranger who cared about her reputation.

He’d asked her at least a dozen times on their way to find a private space at The Zone if she was sure she didn’t want to wait until after he got out of work and could go back to his place.

It had been Sky’s idea to slip into the closet. It had been Sky who unbuckled his belt and lowered his zipper before Nick’s hands had been anywhere other than the small of her back or cupping her face as he kissed her.

Had he come on stronger, had he copped a feel, had he looked at her with only sex on the mind, she would have tossed him aside and not given him another thought. Finding a man to have sex with had never been a problem for her. She wasn’t totally vain, but she knew she was an attractive woman.

Guys seemed to go for her Irish traits and often asked if she was aggressive in bed. Those lude men turned her off. It wasn’t that she was a prude, but she wanted to at least like the guy before dropping her pants for him.

Even though she’d only known Nick for less than an hour, and that hour had been spent with him working behind his bar at The Zone, he’d had a special... charisma to him. He asked about her career, her friends. Almost like he truly wanted to get to know her without the notion of sex.

Bumping into him in front of his office door and practically jumping his bones, pushing him inside and reaching for the button on his jeans had been as much of a shock to her as it had been to him. She’d been the initiator both times. It wasn’t the first time she’d initiated sex. She wasn’t shy and spoke her mind, taking what she wanted.

But never had she been so forceful, so demanding. There had been no doubt that Nick was more than turned on, but he’d stopped her many times asking if she was okay, if this was what she wanted. He’d given her an opportunity to put the brakes on, even though he’d been hard and ready for her.

If he’d been forceful with her, if he’d talked dirty to her, she may have stopped. But he didn’t. And so they did.

“Hey.” Nick curled his hand around her neck and softened his kisses. “Are you okay? Is this okay?”

He did it again. Made her swoon when, judging by the hardness under her thigh, he was ready to burst at the seams.

“You do that a lot.” She traced her finger along his jawline, stopping at his chin.

“Kiss you? On the contrary, I don’t do it enough.”

She threaded her hands through his dark hair and gently massaged his scalp. “You’re always asking me if I’m okay. Putting my needs before your own.”

“Again, on the contrary. I dragged you onto my lap because I needed to touch you. To kiss you. It was purely a selfish move.”

“I disagree. You wouldn’t have pulled me onto your lap if you didn’t think I wanted you to.”

“I had hoped.”

Sky lowered her forehead to his. “What’s going on here?”

“Well, I was making out with the hottest woman I’ve ever met...”

“And then what?”

“And then we stopped because I sensed she was pulling away.”

She lifted her head and looked down at him. “I didn’t pull away. You did.”

“Your beautiful mind drifted.” He cradled her cheeks in his palms, and she sighed with contentment.

“I was thinking about that time I met my sisters at The Zone.”

Nick curled his upper lip. “I’ve gotta work on my moves if my mouth makes you think of other people.”
