Nick opened the box and turned it toward her.
“Marry me, Skylar Jane Hayes. You’re already my soulmate. Be my better half. My wife. My ball and chain.” He grinned.
“You did not just say that.” Skylar laughed through her tears.
“Please tell me you’re talking about the ball and chain part and not the rest.”
“I love you, Nicolas Santiago Pierce, and yes, I’ll marry you.”
“Thank the ever loving God.” He clutched her head between his hands and kissed her. His fiancé. His future bride.
EPILOGUE
“Your parents sure know how to throw a backyard wedding.” Skylar didn’t need anything fancy, but Isabella had thrown them a gorgeous wedding, nonetheless. With the ocean as their backdrop, and the leaves starting to turn orange and red, Picasso couldn’t have painted a more stunning picture.
They hadn’t wanted to wait long to wed. While Nick helped her pack and move her belongings from Virginia to Maine, her sisters, his mother, and Camilla put together the wedding. All Skylar and Nick had to do was show up.
“Nothing’s too much for my wife and children. Our future children.” Nick spun her around the dance floor, and Skylar laughed, her heart overflowing with love and happiness.
“One step at a time, Nicolas. We’ve been married for less than an hour.”
“It seems like I’ve been waiting a lifetime for you.”
Skylar watched with love and tenderness as Gabby spun in circles with her grandparents, her white dress puffing out like a parachute around her. Camilla tugged Holden to the dance floor while Logan had his face buried in his phone. Working, most likely.
Derek and Karen fit right in with Nick’s family, who welcomed not only Skylar and Gabriella with open arms, but her sisters and their husbands as well.
Bryce and Gina rocked in each other’s arms, while Owen held Charlie and her growing belly in his. Brooke and Drew were wrapped in each other’s arms down by the ocean, lost in their own love as well. Last year at this time, Sky was trying to figure out her life. Now, she had it all.
And then some.
Surrounded by family and so much love, Skylar could never have imagined a more perfect day, a more perfect husband, a more perfect life.
