“Damn, that’s sexy. A guy who changes dirty diapers and does the dishes? I’d say he’s a keeper.”

“Listen to Gina,” Nick called from the other room.

“Oh my god.” Sky dropped to the couch and lifted her shirt for Gabby. “He doesn’t need any encouragement.”

“Yes I do.”

Gina chuckled while she rubbed Gabby’s feet. “You two are pretty cute.”

“You’re talking about me and Skylar, right? Not that Gabriella isn’t cute, but everyone already knows that.”

“Everyone already knows you’re cute too,” Sky hollered back at him and then scrunched her nose. “That didn’t come out right.”

“I think it did. Nick is cute.”

“Thanks, Gina.” Nick sauntered in the living room and wedged himself between Sky and Gina. “You’ve always been my favorite of the group.”

“His ego is plenty big. There’s no need to stroke it.”

Nick gave her an open mouth grin and was about to say something perverted—she could predict them all now—when she cleared her throat and gave him a stern talking to with her eyes.

He chuckled and sat back, stretching his arms across the back of the couch. “Don’t mind me. You two carry on about my sexiness and cuteness.”

“I’m going to leave that one alone.” Gina patted his knee.

They made idle chatter about the weather, what to binge watch next, and then Gabby finally conked out. Nick took the sleeping baby from Sky’s arms and brought her upstairs while Sky worked on righting herself.

“You two are really cute together. Have you told him...” she whispered, craning her neck to make sure Nick was out of ear shot. “That you...” she mouthed love him.

“No. Not yet.” Sky lowered her voice to a barely audible whisper. “It will complicate things.”

“What if he says it first?”

“Maybe.” His soft footsteps came down the stairs and Gina and Sky stood. “I guess we’ll be back by one-thirty? Call me if Gabby wakes early. We won’t be far, right?” she asked Nick.

“Gina is quite capable of taking care of our girl.” He put his hand on Sky’s lower back and guided her to the front door. “But if you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me. Thanks again for coming on such short notice.” He kissed Gina’s cheek before ushering Sky out the door.

“You’re not going to tell me where we’re going?”

“And ruin the surprise?”

“Maybe curb some of my anxiety?”

Nick pushed her up against the Jeep’s door and cupped both of her cheeks in the palms of his hands. “There’s nothing to be nervous about.” He lowered his mouth to hers and she sank into him.

He always smelled so good. Nothing over-the-top but one hundred percent fresh, clean, and sexy. His lips were soft and gentle as they coaxed and soothed hers. His tongue tasted like mint. He must have brushed his teeth while upstairs, but she hadn’t since before breakfast.

Sky worried her breath wasn’t appealing but by the length and hardness of Nick’s lower half pressing into her stomach, she’d bet her much neglected Louis Vuitton bag he didn’t mind.

“Better?” he whispered in her mouth.

“Much.”

“Good,” he shot back, whipped open the passenger side door, and picked her up, placing her on the seat before she had taken her next breath. “Buckle up, buttercup.”

She fastened her seatbelt and couldn’t help but laugh as he talked to himself while he rounded the hood of the Jeep. His eyebrows dipped toward each other, and he scowled out whatever he was saying. When he climbed behind the wheel she asked, “What were you saying out there?”

“Hm?” He started the engine and peeled out of his driveway.
