Page 66 of A Vicious Rumor

Bianca scoffed. "Ugh, Jess. What a boring question."

"Shut up, Bianca," Jess bit back. "It's my turn, and I want to know the answer."

"But, why?" Alicia asked, back to her bored attitude. She looked down at her fingernails like they were way more interesting than whatever was going on in the room. "Why be interested in something like that?"

"Because," Jess said. "I remember you before you came to our school. You came with Rock to a party. Left with him too." She tapped a finger to her lip. "It was really only a few weeks ago. But, then here you are, all caught up with Scissors and living with him no less. It all feels super weird to me, and I see the way you look at Rock during class."

Bianca perked up at this. All of the girls knew that Kitty was the one dating Rock. Jess was obviously trying to stir up drama between me and Kitty.

I rolled my eyes at Jess, trying to play the whole thing off. "That's ridiculous," I said.

"Fine, then answer the question," Jess said.

"You're not going to be happy with the answer," I replied haughtily. "Because I've never been in love with anyone before. Well," I paused. "Not a boy at least." I said it like it was the truth, but deep down I didn’t know what I believed.

"A girl, then?" Bianca asked, sitting up with rapt attention.

I rolled my eyes. "I mean romantically. So," I turned back to Jess. "I guess that means Dare."

"I don't fucking believe you," Jess nearly hissed at me.

I tried to continue to play it cool. "Doesn't matter what you do or don't believe. It doesn't change the truth."

"Ugh, fine," Jess said. She looked deviously between me and Kitty, who was currently unbothered by the conversation and on her phone. "I dare you to kiss Kitty on the lips."

"Ugh, really Jessica?" Kitty said, giving her friend a look. Then she looked at me. "Well, come on, let's get this over with." I looked between each of the girls, somewhat terrified over the whole situation. "Come on, Lily, you at least know that it's gonna be better than kissing Brad."

Alicia gave me dagger-eyes. "Did you fucking kiss Brad?"

I held up my hands. "No! I swear, he's all yours."

She looked pleased enough with my answer, but before I could look back at Kitty and plead my case she practically bum-rushed me and pressed her lips to mine. Katy Perry's song came on in my head, because she really did have on cherry chapstick.

Bianca and Jess hollered, and I vaguely saw Bianca snap a photo out of the corner of my eyes with her phone.

"Ladies, ladies," a male voice said, and Kitty jumped back from the shock. "If I'd had known this was the sort of thing that went on at your slumber parties, well, I'd definitely have planted a higher definition camera in Lily's purse."

I turned to look and saw Scissors walking through the bedroom door, before plopping down on the fluffy pink bedspread. I looked at him with wide eyes, but he just shook his head a fraction of an inch.

"So, what other sorts of mischief did I miss?" he asked with a mischievous smile.

Bianca, who always used every opportunity she could to flirt with him, jumped up from her spot on the floor and made her way over to the bed. She sat on the edge and gave him her best attempt at "come fuck me eyes."

"What sorts of trouble did you want us to get into?"

Scissors rolled off the bed and made his way to me. "Frankly, none. I was a little worried about leaving my flower with such rough zoo animals such as yourselves," he said in a teasing voice. "I simply couldn't get to sleep without her, so," he shrugged, "I decided that I was bringing her back home with me."

"Hey, that's no fair," Bianca said, jumping up from the bed, clearly jealous.

Scissors put his hand out to me, and I took it. He pulled me up and for the second time that day, someone pressed a kiss to my lips before I had the chance to even process what was happening. He pulled back briefly. "Hm, tastes different than normal. Not to worry, we can fix that," he said, trailing his fingers along my neck.

The girls behind us all watched with rapt attention. I could feel their jealousy rolling off of them like waves. Interestingly enough, Kitty's eyes were fixated on us, too, but more in an inquisitive sense.

"Well, ladies," Scissors said, turning around to address them, "I'm afraid I have to steal her away from you."

"Scissors," Kitty huffed. "We haven't even eaten dinner yet. She's barely been here."

Scissors smirked. "Sorry, little Kitten," he said, "but I'm taking her home so I can skip right to dessert."
