My eyes swing to Jenna. “Master of accounting?”
“Oh.” Her gaze falls as if she’s embarrassed. “I’m good with numbers.”
“Good with numbers? Geez, girl. Give yourself more credit than that.” Tawny hits her shoulder before flipping her stare to me. “Jenna graduated college with a Master’s inAccounting.”
“Wait.” Brows dropping, I glance over at her. “You got your Master’s in Accounting while working as a model?”
“Yeah.” She shrugs. “I did most of it online.”
“Are you serious? That’s incredible.”
“It’s not that big of a deal.”
“It is. I’m crazy impressed with you right now.”
She laughs, shaking her head. “Don’t be impressed. I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to numbers and accounting.”
Tawny nods. “Yes, she’s very smart. Now, can we move on to more important things?”
I sit back in my chair, unsure if I can move on. The more I get to know Jenna, the more amazed I become. And now I’m dying to learn everything about her so I can see the complete picture, because I have a feeling I’ve only scratched the surface of truly knowing her.
But instead of diving deep into Jenna, I’m stuck listening to Tawny’s next idea of capitalizing on our fake love life.
“Jenna’s brother is getting married next week, and I want you guys to attend together.”
Jenna sits up at the same time I shake my head.
“Tawny, that’s my brother’s wedding. I’m not going to make Cody fly to Tampa and meet my family when this isn’t a real relationship.”
Taking Jenna’s cue, I tack on more reasons why this isn’t a good idea. “Yeah, that’s a private family event. The Lewises don’t need me hanging around.”
Tawny’s expression hardens. “This is non-negotiable. Nobody knows this whole thing is fake, and to keep it that way, you both need to attend the wedding together. It’s a star-studded event. There will be photographers and paparazzi.” Her eyes drift to Jenna. “What will everyone think if you show up at your brother’s wedding without your boyfriend?” Jenna’s shoulders drop as she thinks it through. “By then, filming will be done. You guys can leave from the wedding to go to LA and attend the wrap party together—another great place to solidify that you’re a couple. These are the things we have to do until Flixmart picks up season two of the show.”
“I guess you’re right. Cody can come to the wedding.” Jenna’s gaze drifts to me. “As long as that’s okay with you?”
“Only if you want me to come.” Her nod is subtle, but it’s enough. “Then I’ll be there.”
Is it bad that I was secretly hoping Jenna would want me there? Yeah, that’s bad. I’m backpedaling now. “I mean, I’ll come if Dallas is okay with it.”
“Dallas!” Tawny scoffs. “You think he knows what’s best? Pfft. I’m the mastermind here.” She pulls a business card from her cleavage and holds it out to me. “Honey, when you’re done with him, come on over. I’ll show you what a real PR manager looks like.”
“Did you just pull a business card out from your boobs?” Jenna tries to keep her amusement under wraps.
“I never leave home without one.” She waves it in front of me again.
“Gee, thanks, Tawny.” I take the card, trying not to notice the warm dampness that makes the stiff paper flimsier. “I’ll be sure to hang onto this.” I go to put it in my pocket, then remember, I’m in costume and only have fake pockets on my tailored pants.
“You do that, because when this relationship is over, I have several more clients we can set you up with. We’ll have you likable in no time.”
“Thanks, but I think one fake relationship is good enough for now.”
Besides, I can’t imagine going through this whole charade with anyone but Jenna.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
JENNA
I’m running around my room at the bed and breakfast, trying to clean things up as fast as possible because Cody is coming over to watch episode two on my laptop.
