I bounce on the seat beside him. “Can we visit Auryn and Vrakius first? I really want to see my sister first.”
“We will visit them after we arrive home and take care of matters there.”
CHAPTER 7
Vozak
The scent of my new wife sticks with me. I have a hard time concentrating on the road and the coming tasks once we arrive home. If I had my way, I’d pull to the side and take her again, and again. My body rages with desire, but I harmed her last night, as evident by the blood on me this morning. I cannot hurt her. She needs time to heal.
“Okay. We take care of matters. You’ll have to teach me. All I know is living in a city colony in a tiny apartment. I’ve never lived on open land or know how to work on a ranch.”
“Mmph. You’ll catch on. I suspect Auryn will aid in your training. You’re the keeper of the home.”
She slips her arm out of mine. “I want to help on the ranch.” She reaches for a drink we got at the last stop.
“You will. Auryn sews and cooks and takes care of the baby. She does some of the gardening. Vrakius and I take care of the livestock and the larger crops. The boarius requires some hands-on, too big for you slight humans. They have become a greater asset than the cattle we have.” I wince because I don’t like raising cattle. It’s too close to our bovine ancestry, though we walk on two legs and are more intelligent, it’s like we’re killing our cousins.
“Here we are in Taurus Territory.” We cross over the border, the minotaur territory stretching before us.
“Oh! It’s so dry here. And flat, and wow, look at the animals.”
I laugh at her description of Taurus Territory. She bounces over to the window to watch all the ranches as we drive. A caravan of South-Taupis drives by fast, and my hair stands on end. What are they doing here?
We arrive at the ranch after two hours of driving through the territory. Agnes looks around wide-eyed at the land stretching before her, taking in the fullness of the ranch. She immediately runs to the fence where the boarius gathers and squeals.
“Delightful. They look like pigs on steroids. Look at those long snouts.”
I laugh at her enthusiasm. “Come on, Agnes. See the house.”
The ranch home has three bedrooms, ready to fill with children. When I first came to Alia Terra, I resented the large home Vrakius had for me. Now I am hopeful to fill it with children with my new wife.
Her mouth stays agape as I take her through the kitchen. The shiny stone countertops gleam with the waning light of the day. A large gas stove, refrigerator, and freezer stand at one end, while at the other are counters, cabinets, and drawers. She opens the cabinets and takes out a ceramic plate and smiles.
“I love it.” She turns to me, her face alight in a brilliant smile.
“Come on. This is the sitting room.” Two sofas covered in patchwork quilts face each other over a giant round carved squatting table. The fireplace sits at one end, and the dining room is at the other.
“So much room. Our tiny library apartment back east barely fit one sofa.” She sits on the sofa and bounces.
“Come on, see the bedrooms.”
“How many?”
The first two are the spare rooms. Each one has a bed covered in a quilt and a chest of drawers. “Three.”
“Three?” She follows me into the largest of the bedrooms, ours. Auryn came in and made the bed, adding sheets with embroidered edges and a lovely quilt in soft colors. For a romantic ambience, she said.
“Wow. This is nice.”
“And we have a large bathroom.”
“A claw foot tub! Oh wow! I’ve seen pictures of them in the old magazines. How neat!” She runs to it and steps inside and slips down, pretending like she’s bathing. The thought of her naked makes my cock grow hard.
I reach for my new wife and pull her to me. The rest of the ranch can wait. We haven’t been together since last night. “How are you?”
“I’m fine.” She looks at me like I asked the silliest question.
“I mean after last night. You bled some when we mated.”
