“Kale said his phone was on silent mode, so I can try him.”

“We have one chance. If it is not silent or his position is revealed, we have to act fast. Are you ready?”

“I am.” I swallowed my breath and sent a text.”

Chloe: Kale. Cops are here. Does Dimitri have a gun?

Kale: Phone on silent. Dimitry does not have a gun. Star is restrained, has threatened suicide and Dimitri has everything recorded. If entering through the side. door, go to the back, they will find me. Clear entry without. being noticed.

Chloe: Where is Eric and Kevin?

Kale: Beside Dimitri. One is on each side. Dimitri keeps hitting and cutting Star. I’m about to die. I want to kill them.

Chloe. They’re coming in now. Make sure my girl makes it.

My stomach was in my throat. I showed the cops the messages. I was literally praying. I was never a religious person, but. I was praying to God, Satan, and anyone listening to make sure Kale and Star survived. I needed her just like she needed me. I hated that he drugged me first.

The cops rounded a corner and looked back at Groveton. “Keep the girls to the side. We don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m trusting you, Groveton.” The Sheriff said.

The second they went into the basement, I dropped to my knees and held my breath. I refused to breathe until I knew for sure they were okay. Tara stayed to the side of me and didn’t say anything. She wasn’t involved in this. I didn’t want her to get in trouble for anything, so she was only giving a basic statement.

“It’s going to be okay, Chloe. You did the right thing. We do need to talk about this illicit club you have. It does not exist after today.”

“Fuck that club and fuck you for bringing this on her. If you would have just called the police and had him arrested, he wouldn’t have gone this far.”

“I had to make sure he dug his own grave. By going down this way, I don’t have to implicate anyone within the college. By going this route, nobody is being expelled, nobody else but he is responsible for his actions and everyone will move on. Groveton’s name isn’t tarnished and you all get to graduate.” He helped me up. His stone-cold demeanor was so calculating. I felt like he was really on our side. He definitely did not like the police on campus.

I took a deep breath. I heard the commotion and before I knew it, Dimitri was escorted by police officers and an ambulance pulled up. Kale, Kevin, and Eric walked out. Star was still inside.

My thoughts went to the worst possible scenario. Where is Star? Was she shot? I swear on everything I will kill him if he makes it out of that jail.

“Where is Star, Kale?” I screamed at him.

“She’s unconscious. She lost a lot of blood. They’re getting the restraints off of her now. She’s going to be okay. The sheriff is getting the recording from the basement and they’re going to prosecute him to the fullest.” Kale explained.

“Why is she unconscious?” I cried, “What do you mean she lost a lot of blood?!”

“Calm down, Chloe, we have to give our statements, then we’re going to meet her at the hospital.”

“I’m sorry this happened to you and Star. We never meant for it to happen like this. We were just having fun. I promise it was never meant to be this deadly. We will make sure you and your baby are taken care of. Just give an address and your bank information and your child will be taken care of. I promise,” Kevin said. I was almost in shock.

With everything said and done, I made statements for the police, gave Kevin the information he asked for, and then Kale and I went to the hospital to wait for Staar to wake up. It was the longest wait of my life.

Star

Bright lights blinded me.

Machines beeped

Chloe and Kale were talking about random things and laughing.

I was in the hospital. I was no longer in Dimitri’s basement. What a relief! The last thing I remembered was him cutting me with the knife after saying he would kill me before I could kill myself.

I really didn’t know how I got here, but I felt the bandages on my wrists, legs, and stomach. The first thing I did was make sure I could move my hands. I was grateful the restraints weren’t there anymore. With everything Dimitri did to me, I would never be able to wear anything on my wrists ever again.

“You’re awake! Thank god!” Chloe said, running to the bed. Kale followed her. They clearly hadn’t slept in a long time. Was I ever truly mad at her? I think I was more mad at Dimitri but didn’t want to blame my father.

“How long was I out for? What day is it?” I moaned. It hurts to talk. IVs were attached to my arms. I had a call button and everything was still spinning. Everything spun, I went to hold my head up but. I was too weak.
