“What fucking happened, Chloe!? Why did yall do this meeting without telling me?” Kale continued to yell and pace the room. His hands flailed around. Honestly, I couldn’t be mad at him for being mad. Ultimately, I still didn’t know what happened. The last thing I remembered was asking all three men to leave Star alone. Nausea was taking over my body and I didn’t know if my baby was okay. I really needed to get to an appointment before it was too late. Is there such a thing as it being too late for an appointment? I took the prenatal vitamins, so after all of this was settled, I needed to get into an appointment.
First thing first is we needed to figure out what happened earlier and who took Star. My inconsistent mind was all over the place. I didn’t understand why Dimitri was doing this to Star. He had me. I could be his illegitimate daughter and call him daddy. He didn’t have to torture her.
The second thing I needed to do was eat something or puke. The nausea was building in the back of my throat and I knew Kale and Tara were still staring at me while I stared into space.
“Chloe! Earth to Chloe! We need to figure out where Star is. Who was the last person in here?” Tara yelled at me. I didn’t respond at first. I was trying to make the words make sense. Suddenly, I’m jarred back to reality and my face was thrown to the left side and I was left with a sting, “I’m sorry to slap you, but we need your help.”
“I’m sorry. This drug or whatever it is has me so far gone, I don't know what’s going on. I’m so sorry!” Tears poured out of me. Dimitri drugged me and could have hurt our child, just so he could torment his own child. I couldn’t catch my breath. I sobbed like a three-year-old who had his first whoopin'.
“Okay. Focus on us. Who was in here last?” Kale asked. He was a little calmer, but I didn’t see much improvement in his eyes. I still felt the hatred.
“Dimitri was the last one in here,” I answered.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Kale pressed.
“I remember him giving me a shot, then he gave Star a shot. Before I could do anything, he carried her out through his secret room. I’m not sure what happened after that.”
As inconsistent as these men could be, Dimitri is the one who threw a wrench in any character profile I could have made for him. How am I going to give birth to a madman’s child? I’d have to change my entire life, name, and identity and go far away so I could never risk my child meeting him. He’s the worst person to ever come into my life.
“Where’s the secret door?” Kale asked, looking around the science lab. I pointed to the section of the wall beside the beakers and chemicals.
“It’s on the right side of the cabinet. The curtain.” I was running low on energy and I couldn't keep the puke down much longer. And as predicted, I went to stand and everything came up.
“Sit back down, Chloe. Tara and I can go and see if they’re still here. I’ll text my friend and have him bring you some food. He’s a good guy.” Kale said. I’m glad Kale and Star were able to make their relationship work. I just hoped they would survive whatever the hell was going on.
I waited for Kale’s friend to show up and realized I still had my phone. So, I called the two creeper brothers and hoped they would shed light on whatever the hell was going on.
I called Eric first.
“Hey Eric, I know we met up earlier, but Dimitri went feral and took Star after drugging both of us. Do you know where he went?”
“Chloe, for once I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Eric said laughing, “But, I’ll call him and see if he lets me know. Once I know something, I’ll Call you back.”
“Sounds good.” I disconnected with him and called Kevin.
Taking a deep breath, I had to get this nausea to subside. I continued on my mission. I called Kevin and he answered on the first ring.
“Chloe, what’s going on? Another accusation of bashing?” Kevin snapped into the phone.
“No, something bad happened. We know it was Dimitri who was stalking Star. He drugged me and Star and took off with her somewhere.” I explained.
“I’m still in the science lab. I need something to eat. I feel like shit.” I complained.
“Didn’t you mention you were pregnant?” He asked me to change the subject. I could hear his breath heavier and could tell he was walking.
“I did and I am. I just haven’t been to a doctor because of all the things going on. I’m going to make an appointment on Monday.” I explained. Talking to Kevin was always like talking to a bigger brother. He was still a creep but I did like talking to him sometimes.
“What do you want to eat?” He asked.
“Surprise me. No chicken spaghetti, please. The smell makes me more nauseous.
“Yes ma’am. Drink preference?”
“Sprite and a Mountain Dew, please.” I needed Sprite for the nausea and Mountain Dew for the caffeine.
“I’ll grab you a Gatorade and a Sprite. The caffeine isn’t good for the baby.” Kevin said. “I’m going to call Dimitri and see where he’s at. Just stay wherever you are for now.”
“Thank you. I’ll be in the Science Lab waiting for you. Kale and Tara went into the secret room and I’m waiting for them to come back out.” I explained. I wasn’t sure whose side Kevin was on, but once I had food and something to drink, I knew I would feel better.
