“We need an abortion fund.” I looked up at the blonde who said that. “I say we do two hundred dollars for the club to fund the tests, condoms, and funding for an abortion.” Everyone nodded, but the men.
“What if one of us does get pregnant and the guy doesn’t want it? Are we even safe?” That’s a great question. I’m so glad I took Plan B. I just prayed it worked.
“And that brings us to the topic I wanted to discuss…” Chloe said, “I am pregnant and because of some of the rules that were broken, I’m only about 75% who the father is, he’s married and I’m not sure how his wife is going to take this new addition.” Chloe smiled through the tears and took another deep breath.
My mother was in the room. So, was my father. They were swingers, right? Should I still refer to them as Mom and Dad? I really needed to sit down with them and discuss everything with them.
“This meeting is over. Nothing will happen today. Billiots, please stay after the meeting.” I shook my head fast as Chloe asked them to stay.
“Star.”
“Dad”
“Star.
“Mom”
“Okay glad everyone remembers who we are. We have some shit to talk about and we’re not leaving until everything is on the table. Who wants to go first?” Chloe said.
“I will,” Star said, “I’m not your daughter. Who is my father?”
“Your father was my best friend and he was killed in a car accident. I adopted you when you were three months old.” Dad said. I felt better when she answered. “Dimitri has always been your father. When your biological father passed away, he stepped up instantly.”
“Dad raped me,” I said so fast I didn’t realize it came out.
“I heard,” She said, not saying anything to defend me.
“And what? You don’t care?” I asked. I thought mothers were supposed to put their children first.
“Ay, you were supposed to be switched at birth, we were going to raise another man’s child to breed her. They would do the same with our child.” Father blurted.
“Wow. Just wow. You’re despicable. Just when I think I can get past it, you go and pull some nasty stupid shit like this and ruin everything I thought I cared about.”
“Oh, and Chloe has something she wants to add….” The elephant was in the room and parading around like a galavanting lion, stepping on everything and anything that came within its path.
“I’m pregnant and I believe he’s the father.” She said, looking at me. I took her hand. I forgave her regardless if I wanted to or not. She needed to know that. She wouldn’t be alone with this pregnancy and I wouldn’t let her ever feel alone.
Loneliness can be a murderous feeling. We needed each other. I know that now.
“Don’t worry, Dimitri, I won’t list you on the birth certificate and I don’t expect you to help at all. But, just so you know, I’m removing myself from BGG and so is Star.”
“Mr. Billiot, not that it matters at this point, but I’m dating your daughter, and I respectfully ask for you to keep your fucking hands to yourself.” Kale snapped. I wasn’t expecting that. I almost forgot he was in the room with me.
“Mr. Groveton, did you hear everything?”
“I did. And you finally got to the interesting part for me.” Groveton said laughing.
“Remember, if any of this leaves the campus, you’re not supposed to be dating your roommate, and I will have you expelled for your salacious behavior. So, this doesn’t leave the university. No police reports I won’t have my college ruined because of some horndog professor and his sick urges to fuck his sexy daughter.” Groveton spat. He wasn’t looking at any person in particular. His gaze cut through us as he enunciated each word.
That settled that.
I guess I couldn’t go to the police, but I could disown them and get my own last name. I didn’t have to be part of their family. I didn’t want to either.
Bad Girls' Club was given a new identity. The old club I’m sure would have others to run it the way they wanted, but Chloe made sure it wasn’t an illegal ring.
I stood up to leave the room, Kale wrapped his arms around me. “I’ll see y'all around. I have things to do and people to avoid.” I laughed pulling Kale with me. Chloe followed.
“Are you still mad at me?” She asked. I shook my head. I couldn’t be mad at her after she put herself out there like that. She took up for me, for all of us. Who knows how many they hurt in the process?
