“Are you okay, Star?” He asked, helping me stand, he wrapped his arms around me.

“I’m better. I might not be okay for a long time, but I’m better now.”

"Here, take this," Kale said, handing me a ring.

"What's this?" I asked as he placed the ring on my finger.

"It's my high school ring. They said you needed to be claimed… My ring has my name on it, and I am claiming you."

“Oh." I smiled. He was too nice to me.

"You're mine now, Star. You're my lucky Star and I will wish upon you every night until the sun comes up."

Chloe

How did I sleep with my best friend’s dad again?! After he just took her virginity?! I barely finished the thoughts in my head, but I needed to make things right. There’s so much I needed to fix. I had to talk to Star and tell her everything. He wasn’t going to stand up for us. I was just his sneaky link he could get while we had our club meetings. Not cool at all.

I made it to the club and was trying to figure out how I was going to do this. I needed to make money on the side so I could leave this town once I graduated.

Goals. I needed them.

Money. I needed it.

Friends, not so much, but I felt guilty about Star. I didn't know what happened. Surely, he wasn't telling me the truth. I saw the blood on his pants. He fucked his daughter, and let his brothers do the same.

Guilt overcame me. Guilt was taking over. Guilt consumed me. Whatever happened from this point, happened. I needed her to forgive me. I needed to forgive myself. I didn't make her show up, I simply mentioned the club.

The shift went pretty fast. Most seniors need a drink. Then I saw Kale and Star walk through the doors. She was wearing sweats and a hoodie. He was dressed in PJs. Shit. What happened?

"I need two shots of vodka, tequila, and the strongest whiskey you have. Two shots of each." Kale demanded throwing a hundred-dollar bill on the counter.

"Okay." I made the shots and passed them to Kale. I turned my back. I let them take the shots and made some lemonade and Sprite chasers for them. I handed them the chasers and more shots. "Star, I didn't know, I promise!" I shouted to her.

"Know what?" Star asked me.

"I didn't know what was going to happen. The club wasn't like this last year." I explained, “Everything changed when your da—Dimitri became our sponsor.”

"What do you think happened, Chloe?" She challenged me. The drinks were making her feel better, I hoped.

"I know what your father and uncles did," I said.

"Do you? So, you're fucking them too?" She snapped.

"I do not want to answer that question. I want to be there for you, but I can't answer those questions."

"Why? Is fucking your professor, and new friend's dad not enough that you're fucking a married man?" Star was crying now.

"Did he fuck you after he raped me? Did you suck his cock after he broke my cherry?" She was screaming now.

I had to calm her down. She didn't know what she was talking about. She didn't know the truth. How could I ever explain? I wanted us to be best friends. She didn't know my ex-boyfriend. She didn't know my past. We could start fresh and be friends. Now, it was all ruined because of her father. Her sexy, stone-fox father is ruining things for me. I had to make it right.

"We're not supposed to talk about it outside of the club, Star. You know I can't tell you everything." I explained.

I was pushing myself to get through this faster. I needed to do better. People were staring and I needed to get the attention away from us. No matter what, I needed this to end better. Somehow, some way, I needed the right thing to say.

"Well, they can't have me anymore, because I belong to this beautiful man! I am his and he is mine!" Star screamed holding Kale's hand and announcing their relationship to the entire bar.

"Kale, is that true?" I questioned him. She could just be drunk, but I wasn't sure if she was drunk or if this was the truth.
