Aella could imagine why she said that and it broke her heart.
“Lizzy, my adoptive mom, curses like a sailor, and I turned out just fine,” Aylana said with a shrug.
That reminded Aella that she had to send Lizzy a gift. Although she had no idea what gift could say, ‘Thank you for helping me kill a psychopath.’
“Well, ‘just fine’ might be a bit of an exaggeration,” Sebastian drawled.
Aylana crossed her arms on the table. “Do you want to sleep in my bed tonight, Sebastian?”
Sebastian’s eyes widened. “You turned out perfect, my beautiful warrior.”
Aylana hummed. “That’s much better.”
“She’s got you wrapped around her little finger,” Andreas said with mock disdain.
“Pettiness doesn’t suit you, Andreas,” Sebastian said, completely shameless.
“And yet he clings to it with all his claws,” Mari said.
Andreas turned to arch a brow at her. “I’m sorry, what did you say Miss ‘feelings are disgusting?’”
“You’re no better than me,” Mari rebuked.
“Exactly, Marigold,” Andreas pointed out.
Mari snapped her fingers and Andreas’s hair turned green.
Isaiah’s eyebrows shot up.
Several snorts broke across the table.
Andreas frowned and lifted an empty tray to see his reflection. He narrowed his eyes at Mari. “I know where you sleep, you little psycho.”
“Ooh, that sounded like a proposition,” Evan chanted.
Andreas and Mari turned to glare at him as one.
Lex grinned. “Mari and Andreas, sitting in a tree…”
Aella bit her lip, but a giggle escaped. It didn’t help that Zeydan was trying not to laugh as well.
Mari gave Lex a wicked smile and got ready to snap her fingers again.
Gabby lifted a finger at Mari. “We have a deal, Mari. No hexing him until the baby is a year old.”
“Baldness won’t stop him from taking care of the little bugger,” Mari grumbled.
“Don’t call her little bugger!” Gabby and Lex protested.
“I’ll kick his arse in the next training session,” Andreas promised Mari.
Kerian sighed, placing his hands on his cheeks. “Look at them, getting even as a team. How romantic!”
Mari narrowed her eyes at Kerian. “Need I remind you that you and I have the same title, pretty boy? I’m not afraid of turning you into a donkey.”
“A peacock would suit him better,” Kamilla said with a wicked smile.
“Milla!” Kerian protested. “Don’t give her ideas!”
