And now here was Kate, asking to be let into that tender spot that made me vulnerable.

I kissed her head, but the words I wanted to say to her stuck in my throat.

She laid her head on my chest. “When I love, I love hard and strong, Utah.”

“If you take me, you take my world and everything in it, Kate.”

“I know.”

She squeezed me tight, and I wrapped her in my arms.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Kate—

Utah was sound asleep when I awoke, so I slipped out of bed, dressed, and went in search of coffee.

Darko was at the bar with a steaming mug in his hands. Baja was there as well as a man I’d never met. My eyes dropped to the patch over his chest. It read President. He had long blond hair and a Viking look to him.

Darko lifted a chin to me. “How’s the gun working out for you?”

I smiled. “Good. Thank you.”

He nodded, then turned to his president. “Rock, this is Kate. Utah’s girl.”

“Pleased to meet you, Kate. Where is he?”

“Still sleeping.”

“Ah, I see. You want some coffee?” He stood and went around the end of the bar.

“That would be wonderful. Thank you.”

He grabbed a mug and filled it with the carafe, looking over his shoulder. “Black, or you want something in it?”

“What do you have?”

“Got some Baileys.”

I grinned. “Sure. Why not?”

He returned my grin and grabbed the bottle. “Why not, indeed.”

I watched him doctor it with a good portion, then grab a stir stick and jam it in the mug. “Here you go, doll.”

“Thank you.”

He leaned on his folded arms and stared at me. “So, how are you and Utah getting along?”

“Good.”

He nodded. “You like him?”

“I do.”

“Like long-term like him?”

I grinned. “Yes. Long-term like him.”
