“Any time. Okay, one question, and then we can get out the deep end,” Brian said.
“Okay, shoot,” I replied.
“How did you end up with psycho Trudy?”
I groaned. “That was stupidity on my part. After the Ellen and Holden…. I was so angry. I hated fate. I was pissed at my father and closed off my heart. I ended up listening to an influential member of the Pride instead of my dad and Walter. It just so happened that the member was Trudy’s father. They convinced me that Hayden needed a mother, and I needed to let go of Ellen. It was the biggest mistake of my life.”
I sighed, shaking my head. "But that's all in the past now. I've learned from my mistakes, and I'm grateful for where I am today, especially for having you in my life." I glanced over at Brian and smiled. "Now, let's go enjoy our dinner and focus on making some new, happy memories together."
Brian returned my smile, his eyes shining with warmth and understanding. "Sounds perfect, Eddie.”
I grinned. “After you, Bunny.”
Brian and I laughed as we exited the car. I felt a sense of relief, like a weight I’d been carrying around for years had finally lifted. I can finally move on, and with Brian there, I knew it would be amazing. I glanced at Brian and reached my hand to him. He quickly intertwined his fingers with mine.
I grinned. Life was good.
