“Thank you, Henry. Have a good night,” I said before quickly following.

The elevator doors opened, and we stepped inside, and with a push of a button, we were off to Hayden’s penthouse apartment. The butterflies in my stomach were back in full force. I let out a shaky breath and wiped my hands on my pants.

“Relax, Dad,” Hayden said.

I looked at him. “I’ve had meetings with presidents, royalty, and other powerful, influential people, and I’ve never once been so nervous. What if Brian doesn’t agree to the date?”

“He will,” Owen said as the elevator doors swooshed open with a ding. “Let’s go.”

I released another breath while Hayden unlocked his door. Hayden’s apartment was stunning. I was always struck by the grand entrance that boasted a massive crystal chandelier handing over the door. The high ceilings, at least fifteen feet, gave an open, airy feel. It also provided a clear view across the apartment to the floor-to-ceiling windows, showing the gorgeous gulf beyond. It truly was a beautiful place, my son had good taste in architecture.

As we moved inside, Hayden made his way to the spacious kitchen that had a huge marble countertop island.

“Brian, we’re back!” Owen called out.

I scanned the room, expecting a response, but there was only silence. I looked back at Owen, who shrugged and called out a bit louder this time.

"Brian, dinner!"

Despite our repeated attempts, we were met with no response, which left me furrowing my brow in confusion.

“Maybe he’s in the theater room or by the pool on the second level. I’ll go check,” Owen said.

Owen began to walk away, but I stopped him. The most alluring odor hit my nose, and my lion roared within me. It was Brian’s tantalizing scent. Owen looked back at me, confusion clearing evident in his expression, but I scanned the room again.

I grinned at the little figure before me. “You don’t need to go find him. He’s here.” I pointed to the long sectional. Brian had shifted into his rabbit form. He was bigger than a normal-sized rabbit, about the size of a small dog, and at least twenty pounds. He had steel grey fur, a big bushy white tail, and one floppy ear. For lack of a better word, he was adorable.

Owen squealed and ran toward Brian. I quickly followed.

“Oh, my god. You are so cute and fluffy,” Owen said as he crouched down in front of Brian.

Brian’s nose twitched rapidly at the word cute, and I could see his beady eyes narrow, but Owen appeared to be oblivious. He reached out to pet Brian, but Brian jumped back, and I couldn’t restrain the snarl that erupted from my lips.

Hayden quickly ran to Owen’s side and pulled him back. “Owen, remember before we bonded, we talked about jealousy and Brian shifting so you can see his shifted form?” he asked gently.

Owen looked up at him, “Of course, but we’re bonded now. What’s the problem? Why did you snarl at me, Edward?”

Hayden sighed. “Babe, we’re bonded, but Dad and Brian aren’t. And I’m pretty sure my dad was feeling the same kinda jealousy when you went to touch Brian.”

Owen jerked his gaze to me. “Is that true?”

I bowed my head and sighed before crouching down in front of my mate. “Yes, I’m sorry for being snarly.” I paused and smiled. “I do have to admit he is cute and fluffy.”

I reached out and petted his soft fur. Rather than backing out of my reach, Brian pushed into my touch. I chuckled. “I wondered what happened to your eyebrow ring. It seemed to stay in place right above your eye,” I said, rolling my fingers over the smooth metal bar.

“Oh, your piercings stay. Wow, do all of them?” Owen asked, coming to my side.

Piercings? All of them? Brian had more than the eyebrow ring. My mind was instantly flooded with the possible locations. I couldn’t help but ask. “All of them?”

Owen giggled, and Brian squeaked furiously, his nose twitching as he did. The little rabbit was obviously yelling at his best friend.

I laughed as Brian quickly hopped from the room. Looking back at Owen and Hayden, the pair were laughing like me.

“Come on. Let’s get dinner set out. I’m sure Brian will be out in a minute,” Hayden said, guiding Owen back to the kitchen.

Hayden was right. Brian appeared within seconds. He was wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a white cotton tee shirt. He looked so adorable, even in this form.

Brian walked to the kitchen island. “You didn’t say anything, did you?”
