Embarrassed and frustrated, I shot back, “What do you expect, Randy? We haven’t had sex in months. Did you expect me to stay a monk?” My voice trembled with pent-up anger.
Randy smirked and moved to the side of the bed before pulling down the elastic from his scrubs, revealing his semi-hard dick. The sight that once stirred passion now made my stomach twist in disgust.
“If you want it so bad, suck me. I’ll satisfy you.”
I recoiled, rage replacing the anger. “Fuck you! This is messed up!”
Randy scoffed and pulled his pants up. “Whatever. You complain we haven’t had sex, and yet you won’t give me a blow job when I’m offering.”
“Look at how you’re offering. Where’s the love and care?” I shook my head. “Do you even love me?”
“I don’t have time for this. I just came to get a file I forgot. I need to get back to the hospital. Clean yourself up.” Randy bent down, picked up my towel, and threw it at me.
I caught it and watched him walk away. “You don’t even have time to tell me if you love me?” I shouted.
“I’ll talk to you later.” He called back.
The sound of the door slamming was like a nail in my heart. I flopped back onto the bed. What the fuck was I even doing? Was this worth it?
I glanced at my nightstand and reached for my phone. Picking it up, I stared at the time—eleven o’clock. I knew it was late, but I needed to talk, and I needed a friend. I quickly unlocked the device and dialed the number.
“Hello,” Owen’s groggy voice answered.
“Hey,” I replied softly.
“Brian, is that you? Are you okay?”
I didn’t reply right away. I didn’t know how to ask for help.
“Brian?” Owen asked, his voice more alert.
“Owen, I…you said you’d be there for me. I need a friend.”
The sound of shuffling in the background came through. “You got it. Hayden’s bringing me over now. I’ll be there in five.”
Tears burned in my eyes, and my heart swelled with appreciation. Owen was a good friend.
“Thank you, Owen. Thank you. I’ll see you soon.”
