“Oh yeah,” I murmur tiredly.

“Why don’t you have more tattoos? It seems weird, doesn’t fit with your whole persona.”

I grin. “And what persona is that?”

“I don’t know. I just think you’re exactly the kind of guy who goes out and gets a tattoo as soon as he turns sixteen and every month after. But you just have a couple which I think I saw on your brother as well, so I assume that’s like a family thing? But that’s it. Why?”

I twirl a strand of her hair in my hand distractedly. “Do you want me to get a tattoo?”

“No, I just want to know. Literally everyone else in your circle is loaded with tatts. Just wondering why not you.”

“No reason,” I mutter.

“Topher.”

“What?” I ask on a laugh, looking away from her eyes.

She hits my chest. “Tell me the truth.”

“Geez, woman. Let’s keep the physical violence to a minimum.”

“Don’t tell me you’re—” She lets out a soft gasp. “Are you afraid of needles?”

My eyes widen and I splutter, “Wh-hat? That’s ridiculous, princess.”

She laughs. “Oh, I am so right!”

“I’m not scared of needles, Katie.”

Before I can blink, she’s rolling across the bed and sitting astride me. Her hand goes down to my throat, her eyes fierce. “Tell the truth, Toph,” she sings.

I cough out a laugh. “Is this really necessary?”

“Yep.”

“Alright, fine. I’m not a fan of sharp things piercing my skin. Happy?”

“Very.” She grins, sliding off me. “I already knew. I just wanted to hear you say it.”

“How did you know?” I frown.

“Dany and I have been texting. She’s the best.” She laughs, while I groan softly. “Oh, and she gave me your mom’s number, but I haven’t texted her. I wasn’t sure if you wanted her to know about us yet,” she says, biting the corner of her lips.

I kiss her forehead, “Of course I want you to meet my mom. She’s just intense. I’m trying to keep you to myself for a little while longer.”

She giggles when I bite her ear softly, “Alright. I was actually worried. It felt like you were keeping me away from her or something.”

“Please, I’ve told her all about you. She has probably heard more about you than anyone else and she wants so badly to meet you. I just want us to take things slow. Enjoy each other’s company first before involving my crazy family.”

Although it might be a little too late for that, considering Daniella.

Katherine’s expression brightens. “Speaking of enjoying each other’s company…”

She’s practically beaming as she gets up and walks over to where her bag is in the corner of the room. I sit up, taking the time to enjoy the view of her delectable ass before she settles down beside me. There’s an envelope in her hand, and inside it are two tickets to the Grand Prix.

“I figured you’d like Formula One, and I love it, too. There’s a race in Miami this weekend. I figured we could fly out. It’s fine if you don’t want to, though.” She looks so unsure, I roll my eyes.

“Are you kidding? You’re literally…” I actually have no words.
