Once they’re in heat. He did start to perfume. Does this mean he’s in heat?

He didn’t seem to need to be knotted. I thought that was the tell-tale sign of a heat.

Maybe it’s also a pre-heat thing. I wouldn’t really know.

Damn, this is confusing.

I lift him up and lay him back down in a more comfortable position, putting a sheet over his bronzed body. He has a full-on, all-over tan. No tan lines. Also, no body hair. He’s been waxed all over which makes me feel pretty hairy in comparison.

I’m about to head to the shower when I hear Zane calling out Dale’s name.

Shit. I grab my boxers and throw them on. I’m just picking up my pants when the door opens, and Zane walks into the room.

He blinks at me, surprise in his eyes. “Um … Did Dale perfume?”

“He did,” I murmur. “You haven’t been in the kitchen, have you?”

“The kitchen?”

“Never mind.”

“You claimed him,” Zane states, as he moves over to the bed, climbing over to where Dale is sleeping.

“I did,” I admit, knowing there’s no point in not being honest. “He fell asleep after.”

Zane puts a hand over Dale’s forehead. He lets out a relieved sigh when he takes it away.

“I think this is normal exhaustion.”

“Uh, yeah. I wasn’t sure if it was a pre-heat thing or not.”

“It can be,” Zane says. “If he starts to sweat or moan, it could be something more serious. We need to bring him down to the lobby where Zoey is.”

I put on my pants quickly. “Zoey’s in the lobby?”

I glance at the bathroom door and realize it’s open.

She went to shower while Dale and I were distracted with each other.

I didn’t even notice her leaving the room.

Zane looks up at me. “She’s in heat. She must have passed out before she could reach an Alpha.”

“Oh, shit! Is she okay?”

“She will be. We’ll make sure she is.”

I nod, taking his reassurance to heart.

I know claiming Dale is going to make Zane one of my Alphas.

I accepted that when I when I made the decision to act on my instincts.

It felt right then, and it feels right now. Nothing has changed.

Zane wraps Dale in the sheet and lifts him up.

He carries him out of the room, and I follow along, feeling a little naked without my shirt.
